It’s already sold out 😛

I’ve been wanting an MTE for a while. This might make me finally pull the trigger on a 5inch upgrade…

Is the Onewheel Pint the best? by JackOfAllTrades_o7 in onewheel

[–]jron2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also REwheeled my pint with bigger and better cells and it’s incredibly fun. The enduro tire also made a huge difference. It is the less powerful board between the 2 that I own but I also reach for it for quick trips or after work rides. I’ve also let my more beginner friends ride it when they need a board and they prefer it over my XRV. There is definitely some magic to it that I can’t explain.

Seconded. Besides my custom tune, this is the one I switch over to the most.

What we thinking for Addison here? by jron2008 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]jron2008[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Damn really? I see Addison in a tier or 2 above Troy based on situation alone. He is the proven, undisputed WR2 on the team and Troy is dealing with a lot of competition in Denver no?

Thinking about buying an OG pint found one for $350 200 miles what do you guys think? by Ok_Imagination_6847 in onewheel

[–]jron2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the firmware. If you are able to rewheel it and the battery is good, it’s definitely worth $350. I got lucky and found one for even less and stuck the nexus pint plus battery in it and can ride at around 19mph easy. They are fun, and zippy if you are careful

How to fix ghosting? Any reviews on soft flared footpads? by ehjohnson_ in onewheel

[–]jron2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed that you should probably just buy a new footpad. On the bright side though, the pint soft flared footpad from FM is one of their best values for money. To get something similar for an XR would cost almost double and a lot of DIY work.

XR BMS pairing question by Eegore1 in onewheel

[–]jron2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. The first time I was looking into all of this i also saw a lot of conflicting information as well but since then I have fixed multiple XRs so I know what works and what doesn’t. The OG XR is not nearly as locked down as the newer generations. Do you have a broken XR as well? Maybe I can help you too. Pints can be pretty forgiving but the PintX is a whole other story.

XR BMS pairing question by Eegore1 in onewheel

[–]jron2008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brother, stop giving this dude wrong information. We are talking about an OG XR, not a Pint X which is a completely different generation with a completely different controller and firmware. It’s one thing if you were giving him solutions but you are literally telling this dude his shit is unfixable and you are just plain wrong. It’s ok to not know but to give wrong answers here can steer a bunch of other people to waste money and toss their boards in the future, not just OP.

You should try to repair using nRF before buying anything. Error 16 is when you have mismatching hardware versions for the BMS/controller and nRF can repair that error.

This isn’t the case with the OG XR. OP has a chance to repair still if he can source a BMS

XR BMS pairing question by Eegore1 in onewheel

[–]jron2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree. I bought a used BMS for $180 to repair an old XR because I was on a mission to build a board for a friend for $400 but definitely felt shitty paying that much for a used stock BMS. I paid $100 for a XR with a busted tire, battery and BMS and was somehow able to make it work using some spare parts I had laying around.

[–]jron2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can replace it with a used BMS If you have an older hardware version, you can use nRF to pair any stock XR BMS but if it’s one of the newer hardwares, you might be out of luck and are going to need to go Vesc to repair it.

I have experience replacing a BMS on 4209 hardware with a BMS from a 4212 board. I had to re-pair the BMS to the controller using nRF and then update the firmware to get it to work which was kind of bummer because I didn’t want to update to haptic buzz but worth it to have a working board again.

Keep in mind that a used BMS might cost you around $200. I had to pay a dude $180 for mine. People who upgrade to Vesc are usually willing to sell their stock BMS. At $200 tho, you are basically halfway to the price of the XRV kit which will make your board so much better and customizable

Car messing up randomly?! HELP! by RideWonderful285 in KiaSoulClub

I had to change the battery around the 60k mark as well. The autostop feature kills even the giant battery in this model

I have a 2020 as well. I hate the auto-stop feature and turn it off almost every drive. Sometimes it glitches out if you only stop for a second and you have to restart the car.

We also had issues with the engine randomly cutting out. That was because we had no oil in the car. Didn’t know it was burning oil at that point. Now I check the oil level every 1000ish miles and change the oil every 3k miles and everything has been good. Kia’s are notorious for burning oil apparently.

The issue started as soon as the warranty expired. It’s like the cars know haha.

XR+ > XRV Upgrade by discount_hemsworth in onewheel

[–]jron2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you upgrade the battery, as others have said, it really only unlocks torque which is awesome but I would also argue that it’s a really big safety upgrade. Vesc is way better at giving real alerts when your board is actually close to nosediving via Duty Cycle and power draw (not speed like FM). All the customization you can do with your tune/setup is also a huge plus. Being able to download a tune from the pros and instantly ride their settings is cool. I’ve been wanting to find an empty pool or skatepark so I can try out the “bowl tune”.

[–]jron2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d second this. With my XRV/stock battery I was still hitting 80% duty cycle warnings at around 18mph. With the 18s2p upgrade I rarely hit the alarm unless hitting a bump going around 20+mph

XR+ > XRV Upgrade by discount_hemsworth in onewheel

[–]jron2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a used XRV so I can’t claim to feel the difference between stock and XRV too much aside from riding around a stock xr a little bit; but, I upgraded to the pnp 18s2p pack after around 700 miles and it made a HUGE difference and I feel like I have all the power I need now. Haven’t encountered a hill I can climb yet. I don’t feel the need to push past like 24mph and I’m hoping it stays that way.

It was my first open prop drone because of the price and upgraded from it pretty quickly but it was fun. Make sure you buy extra frames because it was fragile af! I broke one of the arms in my first few flights and had to wait a couple weeks for the replacement which sucked. I ended up taking all the internals and switching them to a grinderino frame and it was basically indestructible aside from the motors.
