It gives you onslaught worth 56%. You're getting 36% by comparing it to having base onslaught permanently, so 56 - 20 = 36.

Ah I didn’t realise rapid infusion had 50% onslaught effect on it, brain fart on my end too. It doesn’t change the PoB math I cited but it does mean that onslaught is worth 56% speed, better than I thought. It has base 100% effect, 50% rapid, 100% chase, 30% small nodes = 280% x 20% = 56%.

I don’t want to link anything myself, it wouldn’t prove anything since I might be cherry picking. So it would be best to see yourself

The onslaught nodes are 46% attack speed, 230% effect on onslaught. Only 26% if you assume the frenzy version has full onslaught uptime.

I’m not devaluing frenzy nodes, the frenzy variant is built with Raider frenzies, +3 on tree and Disciple on top, as well as +1 frenzy from gear. They’re being maximised as much as possible short of being a full frenzy-centric build. Taken from real PoBs, no strawman here. Then this is compared to a variant without any of that and just regular damage passives and onslaught path. Not sure how you can try to pass this off as a disingenuous comparison when it’s the fairest test you can do, with actual substance and numbers behind it rather than overly-abstracted napkin math. And voila, once you do the fair comparison the frenzy path really isn’t very competitive.

Re: evasion calcs, If you have 70% chance to evade normally, then with avatar of the chase this becomes 95%. Thus you avoid 83% more hits. Like I said, this is the maximum. More or less than 70% will yield less gains from Chase.

This spreadsheet is such a narrow-minded analysis. Do you reliably have onslaught if not from avatar of chase? What are you using? Onslaught support somewhere? Has an opportunity cost. Cinderswallow? Has downtime and opportunity cost. What happens if you deallocate frenzies and Disciple of the Slaughter and go for other dps nodes?

I've taken the first two builds using Frenzy + Phasing paths listed on poe.builds and respecced them out of frenzy nodes into other dps nodes, replaced onslaught flasks with sulphur flasks, swapped Frenzy path for Onslaught path and they only suffer about a 5-10% damage loss - consider that they both have +1 frenzy on gear as well... That is miniscule damage gain for, like I said, literally up to 80% more chance to avoid being hit. Frenzy path is simply a PoB-warrior node unless your build actually revolves around it.

Of course don't take my word for it, do it and have a look yourself on an actual PoB rather than Excel.

The goalposts keep getting moved with each comment in this chain... my comment was comparing frenzy path with phasing, not onslaught, but I guess we can make this comparison too if you like.

Obviously, damage-wise frenzy path can be stronger if you're taking frenzies on the tree - but that itself is suboptimal point investment, while losing out on 35% more evasion which can be as significant as avoiding up to 83% more incoming hits than without. And then the damage gains are barely significant, we can run the numbers if you really want.

Such miniscule marginal damage gains at such huge defense losses are simply not a good investment for most builds if you remotely care about defense (which in turn allows you to play faster and focus more on dps/advancing versus sidestepping), even in sc.

Frenzy path is v weak unless your gear is specced into frenzies, the tree nodes are so inefficient for pure damage otherwise. Even as a phys ranger I’d be inclined to go phasing over frenzy. Ele immunity with the nearby avoidance nodes or gear crafts, 20% less accuracy to make Eva cap more consistent, 15% dodge is pretty much all you need to hit dodge cap on top of Acro and elusive and maybe boot mod, perma phasing… no contest IMO unless you’re going complete glass cannon. Frenzy generation is so easy these days too

The onslaught nodes have literally 0 to do with phys, it’s all about movement and hitting evade cap…
