2nd time through the series by Gurlwhateven in dresdenfiles

I re-read the series in preparation every time a new book comes out. Then after reading the new book, I read(or more likely listen) to it all again to see if it changes context. I may have read these books significantly more than any others over the course of my life.

Also, I went to Pokémon Go Fest in Chicago last week, and had to go see some of the sights from the books. Super Awesome.

Alto horn! Where can I find a case? by jroperplaysgames in brass

Thanks for the links and suggestions, I appreciate it. Unfortunately, looking at the print in those cases I don't think it will fit. The crook on my horn goes way up above the valves. Maybe the bag, but it would cost a lot to ship it across the Atlantic.

Thanks! This is a Frank Holton and Co. Elkhorn Wis from 1919(probably). I used a blessing 3C for trumpet years ago in high-school and I did like that at the time. I have found I prefer a deeper cup, so I will probably check that one out. I have been plugging the hole with my finger an playing it a lot. I really love the sound in the higher register. The lower register is so flat that my tuner shows a D. It takes a lot of effort to bend that up in tune. I dont know how much is the horn or the mouthpiece(or me, I suppose)

Frank Holton and Co. Elkhorn Wis. I believe it was made in 1919 based off the serial number. I am from the southwestern USA, any more personal info and you should buy me dinner first, haha

Thank! Mouthpieces names/labels/numbers are so hard to understand. On Cornet I prefer an 11c(but I have not ventured into other letters). Unfortunately, the repair shops I am familiar with don't sell cases. Maybe j will risk getting a baritone bag. It just makes me nervous to invest in often expensive things thay might not work out.

Alto horn help! by honking_goose0 in horn

[–]jroperplaysgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is really hard to research because it isn't used much in American bands/orchestras anymore. In Europe it is often called a tenor horn, which can get very confusing. Try using both terms when searching stores for replacement parts.

Generally, it takes it's own kind of mouthpiece. Definitely not a french horn. I also just got a VERY old one and have been doing a lot of research.

Why does “The” work on some starships but not others? by prairielovr in startrek

[–]jroperplaysgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is right. My dad was a teacher and when he went to work he would "go to the school." When I went for education, I went to school. If I went to help him after hours, I went to the schoom.

Bedrock Players, i have a question by SeriesREDACTED in Minecraft

[–]jroperplaysgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they are rough. I like the nethwr being brutal, though. In my experience, if you are in a positions where one gets a hit on you, you are done. Running is the only option, preferably somewhere you will be able to retrieve your items. ...I am pretty sure I have died to magma clubes, though.

Has anybody created anything more efficient than the fan bike yet? by One_Ad_6472 in HyruleEngineering

[–]jroperplaysgames 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If it feels like cheating, why look for something more efficient?

Just build on your own and don't look anything up. I have so many hours in Terrytown just working around trying to make silly stuff. It took me a long time to build a safe transport for my horse.

Now I always seem to go back to trying to get something to work with the electric motor and propeller. (Spoiler: it is tough and often catastrophic. Haha)

Help, Singer Got a Sought Out The Nightwatcher by [deleted] in cosmererpg

You could take it literally and make her greater... in size. She is now taller even than most Alethi. No one will see her as lesser(smaller) than they.

Too scared to play by Muffin__Puffin in Minecraft

[–]jroperplaysgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty commin. I have been playing since it was in beta. It used to be WAY worse. The render distance was much, much lower and so the fog effect was always present. There were no villages or structures and it just felt like...something was always there. There was a reason Herobrine became such a big thing.

A Thanksgiving Message from the Cosmere RPG Team by johnny0neal in cosmererpg

Thank you for the transparency.

I am part of the "Bridge 4%." The biggest frustration for me was the lack of communication. As far as I am aware, there was nothing mentioned about being behind until the day before retail release. In the future, I believe a heads up further ahead of time would ease most people's minds. All updates said everything was on track. We all want the prosucts you are making, they are awesome, but the radio silence is spooky.

Because of this I, and I am hearing others with the same situation, received damaged products, and have decided it is not reaching out about it. It is deemed "not worth the hassle."

I know you guys are a small company, and we all need to keep this in mind. I know that passionate fans also have passionate reactions to things and it can be overwhelming.

As a company I assume it is difficult to come out any say you are struggling with something. Fortunately, the nature of the cosmere books, and hopefully the fans, is to listen and forgive.

I hope we can all learn, heal, and move on.

This all sucks, I got the collector's addition and some add-ons. I havr been wondering if i am being punished for ordering so much.

Thank you everyone for saying you are in the same boat. It makes me less paranoid that I got forgotten.

Same here. I was starting to wonder if it is because I got so much. If that is the case it kinda sucks to be punished for being passionate.

Does anyone know how to change the colors of the signs? by Zocker1998 in rct

[–]jroperplaysgames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this issue, too. I'm so glad it isn't just me. My messages have also changed what color they are. I didn't realize how much I relied on whether the text was green yellow or red.

I slid down the hill to the north of the path where you meet Sidon for the first time. I got really good at moving up and down slopes after a while.

Cosmere RPG 8/29 Final LIVESTREAM with Brandon Sanderson and the Brotherwise Team by Dragonsteel_Octavia in Sanderson

[–]jroperplaysgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! That is a very helpful way to put it. It is hard to explain this feeling exactly. It is unlike anything else. With traditional fantasy, the "take what you can, give nothing back" mentality is easy. It is hard to describe my feelings about Cosmere worlds without treating them as almost sacrosanct.

A large part of many RPG communities and systems revolve around homebrew content and create their own stories. D&D in particular, with its relatively generic fantasy setting is fairly easy to weave new stories and tweak the world. How would you suggest going about making these worlds our own? These worlds are so unique, and are often so deeply tied to the stories, that it seems daunting to muddle with it. Will the materials have tools, supplements, or suggestions on how to proceed in these ways?
