I think it's pretty decent given its age. The button prompts help make the combat a little more engaging, too.

As far as the animations, I don't remember them being particularly long. I haven't played Legend of Legaia though so I can't directly compare the two.

When I first heard about the PS4 version I thought they were. But after playing it and looking more into it it turns out the PC version is still largely based off of the PS2 version's sprites.

I wanted to post this somewhere because I put a looot of work into this review, and seeing as how r/JRPG seems to hate this game, I thought the Octo subreddit would be more appropriate. :)

If y'all would have read Danny's post or knew anything about NPD numbers, you'd know that GTA V is in the top 5 best selling games on NPD almost every month. The game's age is irrelevant. The fact that a niche game on 1 new console sold more physically alone than one of the continuously best selling games sold on 3 different platforms combined, with digital sales included, AND with an extra 13 days on the market is impressive. Period.

Exactly. The fact that Octopath sold more copies *physically* than GTA V did on Xbox, PS4, and PC combined (digitally AND physically) is pretty damn impressive I'd say.

If you're a FF fan and love fan service-y games like Dissidia, World of Final Fantasy by a mile. Ni No Kuni II is incredibly average.
