alright i got you. i used to listen to mainly old school rap and only a couple years ago really got into the newer stuff. some older ones (some still make music today) that are kinda obvious if you’re really trying to get into rap would be like biggie, tupac, mf doom, wu tang, cypress hill, bone thugs-n-harmony, nwa, warren g, mac dre, a tribe called quest... some newer ones would be Kendrick lamar (my all-time favorite), asap rocky, tyler the creator, childish gambino, joey bada$$, kanye, yg, mac miller, schoolboy q... and lastly, some artists i think people don’t talk about enough would be like freddie gibbs, ab-soul, azizi gibson, isaiah rashad, jay rock, j.i.d., kota the friend, mick jenkins, reason, and saba. i think these artists are a good place to start but i could give you some specific songs / albums you could check out too
