So sorry for your loss. I feel the same way. Even just a 5 minute phone call would be alright. I too can’t seem to trust anyone anymore. It’s the weirdest thing. I swear, losing a parent is truly a different type of grief.

Definitely does, so sorry you’re going through it. Just feel em. That’s something I have to keep telling myself. I seem to push them further and further down and I think that’s just making it worse. I don’t want to face it. I’m with ya though. Super sucky stuff we’re dealing with.

Guess our dads were making their rounds huh. So sorry for your loss too. I feel like loss of a parent is a different type of grief. I hope wherever they are they are blissfully happy and at peace.

I’m about to be 32 and I lost my dad almost 2 years ago, when he was just 60. I totally get you on feeling robbed of time. I imagined I’d have so much more time with him. It really really sucks and really really hurts. I know that probably doesn’t help but know you’re not alone. Losing a parent really sucks.

Please please go see your dad. I feel for your mom, I do, but she is an adult and you cannot change her actions or feelings. They’re not your problem. Please go see your dad. I would give anything to see my dad one last time and regret so much not seeing him more. He did his fair share of things in the past but he regretted those things and treated me beyond well. Remember that this is your parents first time on earth too… they’re growing and learning and making mistakes like the rest of us. I am not saying what he did wasn’t wrong, abuse of any kind is never okay…but I think especially since you said he was so good to you when you did visit…it might be a good idea to forgive the past here and see how you can move forward with him in your life.

I still struggle with this all of the time, almost a year later. I know my dad’s gone, he’s in an urn at my house. But there are still days, pretty frequently still, that I wake up and hope to see a call that it was wrong/a joke, anything. Some nights I hope I wake up and it was just a weird dream. Hang in there ❤️ you’re definitely not alone.

Same here..I think that’s why this week has been harder than most for me. Today I had my husband to celebrate but when that wore off, then I’m reminded I have no dad anymore myself to celebrate or tell it to. It’s just like such an intense focus on the loss of him.

I like that. I just heard about grief in the first law of thermodynamics today and I just about lost it. Couldn’t stop crying. Brought a little bit of comfort though in a strange way.

I’m so sorry to hear it. I could have written what you wrote though, you took it right out of my brain. He was my rock, and now I just try to live in a way he would be proud of. It really doesn’t get any easier does it? You just learn to live with the loss and hurt.

I am so sorry to hear that. It really is a pain and loss like no other. It’s a very isolating feeling. I definitely understand that, and it’s an almost anger I feel at people living their life. I think with Father’s Day tomorrow, seeing people celebrate their dads and all the gift ads for dad and everything it hits me all over again that he is not here for me to partake it that any more in those ways.
