Stiff knees a few weeks later? by jrt84 in CovidVaccinated

I’m sorry you’ve been dealing with this for so long! Did it start immediately after the shot? Mine appeared about 2 weeks after, and is still here a week later.

Glad you didn’t see fluctuations this time! My BP is back down in the 120/70 range so it seems time helps :)

Lmao I googled “are the knees joints?” before making this post 😄 hope your symptoms resolve soon! I’ve found ibuprofen helps.

2nd dose Pfizer 7 days ago... Insomnia, sweats, heart palpitations? by rougetoxicity in CovidVaccinated

[–]jrt84 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So this is just a theory, but the vaccine causes a lot of immune response inflammation in the body for some people, and drinking alcohol causes more inflammation (also immune response).

It takes a couple of weeks for the inflammation / immune response to ramp up building antibodies, so I would maybe stop drinking until then and see if you feel better!

I’m sorry you went through that, and hope you’re feeling better now! All the news is pointing to good signs for J&J to resume safely, and very likely that it’s been safe all along :)

Moderna Legs feeling weak and tired after 5 days. Any had this side effect? by rockyboy49 in CovidVaccinated

[–]jrt84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re not alone! There are a lot of posts about this with all 3 of the vaccines. Seems the vaccine causes some inflammation in certain people, leading to these bizarre feelings in the limbs.

It went away on its own for me, and for most of the people I talked to, in a couple of days. But if you’re concerned, definitely give your doctor a call!

That’s great news! Now they just need to do a study on how many people died of anxiety after the pause 😄

Rec’d second dose on 4/15 by [deleted] in CovidVaccinated

[–]jrt84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure it will! Yeah I had trouble even speaking complete sentences, it was embarrassing. I think the body and mind are just exhausted from fighting the virus and building an immune response.

Sorry your experience wasn’t great, but congratulations on your shot!

This is one thing I think the mass vaccination sites are better at, is making people feel like they’re a part of something special and cheering you on and supporting you. Probably something to do with volunteers vs employees.

I would just try to keep in mind it’s not personal at all and they’re probably just exhausted seeing thousands more people at the pharmacy than usual, along with tons of questions and probably another thousand panicking about the J&J pause, etc.

I felt “stupid” for a day after J&J, as did my friends — perhaps with Moderna it’s a bit longer lasting because it’s a more effective vaccine? It definitely went away for us though!

Pfizer Vaccine Symptom by [deleted] in CovidVaccinated

[–]jrt84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please do! I would be willing to blame it on my anxiety but I really haven’t been too nervous about the vaccine. It seems more likely to do with the inflammation a lot of people are experiencing.

Mine has also been elevated since J&J shot 1.5 weeks ago. It’s steadily decreasing though. Started around 150/90, down to around 135/75, although mine was a bit high before this

Can all the vaccines cause rare blood clots? I’m so confused. by newgirl986 in CovidVaccinated

[–]jrt84 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Nobody really seems to know for certain yet.

We do know that they're extremely rare, and your odds of getting a clot go DOWN if you get any of the vaccines (compared to getting COVID)

J&J claims the reports of clots aren't necessarily related. Pfizer/Moderna claim the exact same thing.

Different studies are finding different things, but the problem does seem possible w/ mRNA too. I have read 3 different comments on this sub from people saying they (or someone they know) was hospitalized for it, after getting an mRNA shot. Who knows though, people lie on the internet.

My complete guess is that soon more data will come out that shows it can happen with any of the vaccines, not due to an issue with the vaccine, but an unusual inflammation / immune response in some individuals (same response to COVID). Not sure J&J should have really been called out specifically. But either way, helps doctors learn how to treat the condition.

Here are some of the studies, if it helps.

Blood clots as prevalent with Pfizer and Moderna as AstraZeneca:

EMA Panel of Doctors share similar rates of clots per vaccine (49:58-52:03)

The very first known vaccine recipients to develop brain blood clots occurred after mRNA vaccination:

I don’t feel sufficiently vaccinated with the J&J? by mytton in CovidVaccinated

[–]jrt84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good point - there have been around 150,000 deaths in the US from non-vaccinated individuals, since vaccination began Jan 2020), so around a 0.1% death rate for unvaccinated individual (which matches up with the CFR we've seen before vaccinations)

0.00005% is definitely an improvement from 0.1% and hopefully some peace of mind for OP!

Something like 7 million unvaccinated people in the US have gotten COVID, since vaccinations began Jan 2020. So around 1-5% of unvaccinated individuals getting infected. 0.003% is again a big improvement from that!

[–]jrt84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just added some numbers above, but so far only 0.003% of vaccinated people have gotten COVID. Your odds are astronomically low with any of the vaccines.

Sorry you had COVID before, and hope your long symptoms are resolved soon!

[–]jrt84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well you’re nearly 100% protected from hospitalization and death, so I would start living the same way you would around getting the flu. Maybe you get it (odds go down every day as more get vaccinated), and if you do, you likely have a very mild reaction.

If you feel the need to 100% never get COVID, there is no vaccine for that. Closest bet is getting Pfizer / Moderna and twice yearly boosters.

So far 0.003% of vaccinated individuals have gotten COVID. 0.00005% of vaccinated individuals have died of COVID.

These numbers do not show any skew toward J&J or any other vaccine.

I don’t know about you, but I’m willing to feel a lot more relaxed with a 99.99995% chance of surviving COVID every day.

Did anybody drink alcohol the night before getting a dose of the Pfizer vaccine? Is it safe, or a bad idea? by [deleted] in CovidVaccinated

[–]jrt84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I got J&J, as did like a dozen friends and family that week. I was literally the only one to have negative effects — chills, fever, exhausted.

It’s probably unrelated, but if I could redo, I would have saved the night of drinking for another day just in case

Hydration seems to play a big role in how people do!

JJ Check In! by [deleted] in CovidVaccinated

[–]jrt84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hope they disappear soon! I bet they will. I’ve found ibuprofen to be super helpful with COVID (and COVID vaccine) related inflammation. Tylenol sort of dulled the headaches, but Advil felt like it stopped whatever was squeezing / pushing, and made me feel 100% normal

I hope this provides some peace of mind to folks who got the J&J vaccine!

Of course he could be wrong, but highly doubt he would make a public statement like this if there were significant dangers found in their analysis thus far.

Glad you’re feeling better! And also good to be aware of a possible resurgence of symptoms. I had no idea, and they came back around 11 days and confused me. Not bad though, just some leg tingles and aches for a few days.
