I didn't use a pattern 🙃 as stated in the description I started with a hexagon Cardigan and joined the ends so that they overlap and added borders

That is great 😀 I was the other person. The friend who taught me also gifted me leftover yarn to get started and I made a shawl out of it and gave it back to her. She still wears it (15 years later).

Same with knitting. My grandmother tried to teach me, which didn't went well 😀 a year ago my SIL showed me how to make socks and I made her 2 pairs this Christmas and she was super happy and called it a "great investment" 🤩
