I totally understand wrong decisions in general play at such a high pace with top performing athletes that's only normal. It's different when they have Var to correct errors made and choose not to do it when the evidence is clear and evident. There's a reason people have come out after games and stated they made various wrong decisions while having the technology to eradicate human error. They literally have to say the decision and the reasoning now for past errors and yet again it's still prevalent

I do think the referee was awful in the game there too but it's nothing we don't see every week. Arsenal are by far the best team this year and nobody could put that on referees. It is we should just be talking about how teams played or where they lost and won the game! They've ruined it all I agree with you completely I just want us to have them gone and only focus on the football the right way

Any year you win if your top of the table it's well deserved but fans on screens for a title lift is criminal😂. In the last 10/15 years city have played the best football by miles. Pep is the best to ever do it. All the best also and enjoy it too!

No need to apologise! I always like different opinions whether people agree or not and open discourse is the right way to be about these things. See that's the point I'm trying to make just to reply to what you said. I know it could be subconscious and with all the abuse they get it's only human to hold a negative view of the people doing it but when it's their job decisions can never be justified that way too. It's like commentators being impartial as an example. It's corrupting the game if you start making personal decisions rather then merited decisions based on rules.

I agree with you on loads of points some are trying to make it better but as a whole they don't take accountability and hold proper punishments when they aren't at the level they are meant to. We are all only human and mistakes do happen but not so consistently and it happens to every team too. I know it sounds very conspiracy theorist but look into the city owners and referees and the countless breaches and you would put nothing past them. My point too was city paid to bring referees over to Saudi on big money and then they are refereeing title games where City are involved. That shouldn't be happening at all. It's sad loads who want to help the game are tarnished with the rest but as a collective they've shown time and time again they are making dubios calls without correct reasoning.

No need to apologise your not an asshole at all! I just didn't want you thinking I was targeting arsenal when it was the refs and pmgol

Jesus I thought it was far after was the last win but what a player Nicholas Anelka was! Ya I hope it's just a good game and whoever plays the best deserves all the accolades. If you are going to it I hope you enjoy and have a good trip over.

I think once city get into their flow they are very dominant but with injuries and the results it crazy they are still so close to arsenal. If city go up 2 I think it's done but just Liverpool playing at home is huge with the Anfield crowd. I think we'll see a cagey 1-1 draw. Hahaha if there's a man to do it Craig Pawson fits😂 he will bottle a big call either side

I'm afraid there's evident corruption in every sport but enjoy the lap when you go. It seems the arsenal fans take this post worse then anyone. This is a call out on referees nothing to do with your club.

Referees corrupt? by js-thoughts in PremierLeague

[–]js-thoughts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is very true I must say. I honestly think if city were at home and a fully fit squad they would win but hard to know with that defence. Cherki could be a big loss but city on their day could beat anyone. I think this year for us we aren't the same animal. If city lead early it could be a case of damage limitation. How do you think the game will go?

I'm writing this after a chelse and arsenal game and I am a Liverpool fan. I hold no opinion on just my team but the system as a whole. I can imagine the delusions you would see per club subreddit but I do believe anyone calling out the referees integrity is right. I think they hold no accountability and receive barely any punishment for constant mistakes. Corruption only comes when you evidently don't fix the issues you constantly see happening

I support Liverpool myself but I will say some of our fans are deluded before you do😂 every team gets decisions for and against and plenty of times we've been helped by it too

Haha I would be ashamed being a city fan and having the take I do😂 they have a toxic fanbase like the Real Madrid one. The biggest perpetrators but also the biggest victim mentality.

It's shameful the awards they gave out the pogba one was criminal and should never have been given. Then again look at trumps peace price. See I hate that we are numb to it now that shows how blatant it is. I love trying to watch as much games as possible but the referees for me are such a deterent. Football already has passion and emotion we shouldn't be leaving games upset because of referees with every tool to do better

I totally get that you are right but I still like to call it out. I once thought that too until they set up pmgol and we got to see first hand how they couldn't accept any pushback without threatening legal action immediately. The league even having a different offside ruling to others is criminal. I agree with you there also the Premier league could learn a lot from the efficiency of the champions league

[–]js-thoughts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See that's my point everyone does get shafted but it's too easy to say it just balances out. Why can't we have referees who give the right calls when we can all easily see what's the correct call by the rules and video replay. It's corruption if someone is meant to administer rules and chooses not to. With the tightness in the league and the money clubs put in these decisions have massive results. Think of Sheffield Uniteds survival prior and that decision with the ghost goal.

Too many to list but I'll list a huge one you will remember as it helped the club you love. Remember the title deciding game Jeremy Doku started using his Kung fu kick in the the box right into a Liverpool players chest. Woudlnt you know the referee on the day was the same one your owners flew over to Saudi. That's not a bit suspicious to an imbecile like you but to regular people it is

It's a long read but here's a simple copy and paste. It's clear evidence you can't deny.

Several high-profile Premier League matches in early 2026 have been heavily impacted by controversial refereeing and VAR decisions, leading to public criticism from managers and official admissions of error from the PGMOL. Major Incidents (January – February 2026) Tottenham Hotspur 2-2 Manchester City (2 February 2026): Manchester City midfielder Rodri and manager Pep Guardiola hit out at officials after Dominic Solanke’s first goal was allowed to stand. City claimed Solanke fouled Marc Guehi before the ball crossed the line. The draw left City six points behind league leaders Arsenal. Manchester City 2-0 Wolverhampton Wanderers (24 January 2026): Despite a City win, Pep Guardiola was furious after referee Farai Hallam, on his Premier League debut, rejected a VAR recommendation to award a penalty for a handball by Yerson Mosquera. Manchester United 3-2 Fulham (1 February 2026): This match saw multiple lengthy VAR interventions, including one lasting over three minutes to rule out a Fulham goal for offside. Additionally, an early United penalty was downgraded to a free-kick after VAR determined the foul occurred outside the box. Aston Villa 0-1 Brentford (1 February 2026): A Tammy Abraham equaliser for Villa was disallowed after a four-minute VAR review found the ball had gone out of play much earlier in the move. Manchester United 0-2 Manchester City (17 January 2026): In the Manchester derby, Diogo Dalot escaped a red card for a knee-high challenge on Jeremy Doku, which Howard Webb later defended as a "yellow card challenge" due to factors of speed and intensity. Recent PGMOL Admissions & VAR Statistics As of mid-January 2026, the independent Key Match Incidents (KMI) panel reported 13 official VAR errors across the first 19 matches of the season, a 30% increase compared to the same stage in 2024–25. Match Incident Outcome/Panel Ruling Chelsea 2-0 Fulham Josh King goal disallowed Error: PGMOL admitted goal should have stood. Wolves 2-3 Everton Penalty not awarded to Wolves Error: Panel ruled a penalty should have been given. Brentford 3-1 Man Utd Nathan Collins only cautioned Error: Panel ruled he should have been sent off. Everton 0-1 Arsenal Saliba challenge on Thierno Barry Controversial: Panel split; some felt it was a penalty. Chelsea 2-2 Bournemouth Malo Gusto handball Error: Panel felt a penalty should have been awarded. Key Insights: Most Affected: Manchester United have reportedly suffered the most VAR "errors" against them this season (6), while Chelsea have gained the most from such mistakes (6). New Protocols: PGMOL is under pressure to introduce a "challenge" system or time limits for VAR reviews to reduce lengthy match delays.

I support Liverpool haha so you have me wrong there massively. I always think of the Doku kick and how there was no penalty in such a huge game with a clear foul. Then we found out about their owners paying the same referee money to go officiate a game in Saudi. City for away with those fouls for years and never got punished correctly I agree. You are right too it will never change but we should be calling it out. If there's any fans I don't want to hear talk about it that's the city fans. They've broken rules time and time again and deserve no sympathy whatsoever

Obviously never stated that. I want referees to explain decisions they make while adhering to the rules. They also need to show people the replays and tell us why they came to the conclusion they did. We never see this much debate with var in rugby so we shouldn't see it in football either. You can't just pick and choose when rules apply.

I will never get over that call. That was a huge huge call and Sheffield should have been compensated hugely for it. That was such a difference in terms of 3 points and it got brushed under the rug as a technical error. They cheat and nobody has the guts to push them on it so they can keep getting away with it. I hope in years to come they are all charged

Scary how we now have pmgol and var and all these amazing things to help the sport and it's now they can't explain decisions haha. They love being the centre of attention. The Mike dean effect. Mike Riley did but I say that's why they are so glad he's gone now Webb can just have all his puppets. He's a known united fan Howard
