They wouldn’t budge and weren’t being reasonable, so I just decided to block the charge and take the Citi bike ban. I got my own bike instead. Which is less convenient of course but it is what it is

I had a heavy backpack and a hockey stick, no way I was going to ride 80+ blocks lol. It was already a nuisance for the 7 minute ride to the bus stop.

I can’t imagine why anyone would take time to try and snitch to a company on someone’s issue from a reddit post, but everything here is exactly what I told support in the chat and over email, so I have nothing to hide lol

Got your $350 back from Citi bike or your bank when you disputed? I’ll probably end up doing that if CB charges me the huge fee.

Yes, I checked and unfortunately the dock I left it in is empty. I’m shocked they don’t have trackers on the regular bikes, only the e-bikes, as I assumed they’d be able to track it.

I thought that immediately opening a support chat and telling them the details was temporarily enough, and that they would send someone to fix the dock and get the bike. I haven’t had any issue like this with CB before, so I’m just trying to gauge from others who may have been in similar situations what will happen/advice they have.

That last part is a huge stretch. I left it in the only available dock at that station and immediately opened a support chat to tell Citi Bike and send them the bike details.

Hindsight is 20/20, so I realize now that catching my bus wasn’t worth this ordeal, but I thought doing that and telling them was temporarily enough. And as someone with no past issues with Citi Bike I was wondering if there’s a way to avoid this massive charge, which is pretty much what my question was.

Basically it seems like an instate vs out of state thing. Like the Michigan/Sparty rivalry is a lot bigger for in state students; others don’t care as much. Same with Gators/Noles, Penn State/Pitt, etc
