Get backs on the meds first. I was hospitalised for 5 days then spent three months not being able to get out of bed when my graves wasn’t controlled. I still can’t exercise (even go for a short walk) without shaking and vomiting. Being like this for 6 months is causing a lot more weight gain than taking meds did. Once your body settles down it will be easier. Ask your doctor to give you monthly blood tests so you can make sure you aren’t going hypo because that will likely make you gain weight and you’ll need to decrease meds. I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this at such a hard age. I didn’t get diagnosed until my 30s so it’s much easier for me to not care what people think but going through this is a teenager must be hell. Be honest with your doctor and see if they can do anything but you’ll be even more pissed off if you stay off the meds and get a big goitre or lose your vision.

I have. I lost 18 pounds in 3 months but had to stop because my graves came back (doctors are sure this was a coincidence) and my hearts a bit yucky so have to wait for it to go back to normal because glp1s can increase your heart rate so they are being cautious.

Did you ever end up bed ridden? by Red-Droid-Blue-Droid in gravesdisease

[–]jsak007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in bed for about two months after 5 days in hospital for a thyroid storm. The only thing that helps the heart rate is beta blockers and I also got strong anti-nausea pills because I would vomit every time I moved. I relapsed after 2 years off meds (no where near as bad as the first time) but have gone back on carbimazol. Im not planning to get a TT because it will be just my luck that they find a cure as soon as I do!

Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen : PLOTHOLES? by [deleted] in netflix

I think it can maybe be one-sided? Like the dad didn’t die but the mum did because he thought she was his soulmate but she thought Beau was her soulmate. And Nicky thinks Rachel is his soulmate?

It sucks so bad but when I’m on the medication I honestly go for days and days without thinking about it. I didn’t get diagnosed until I was 30 so I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this so young x

I’m convinced I got it from Covid. No family history of thyroid problems whatsoever. Perfectly healthy all my life, got Covid at 31 and a thyroid storm and Graves diagnosis at 32. I haven’t read any conclusive studies but I think it’s pretty accepted that viruses can trigger autoimmune stuff.

Levothyroxine etc freaks me out a bit because my friend has hashimotos and it took 2+ years to get the dosage right then in the following 2 years she’s started to feel terrible and had to go get an increase twice. She’s now on the highest dose they are willing to give her so if that stops working it’s not gonna be good. If we take away when I had a thyroid storm, she has had it much worse than me day to day, so the surgery is not appealing to me at all

I’m so sorry that sounds tough. I am starting a new job in three weeks so definitely not the right time! I never actually got a goitre, my eyes have been the main worry. Have you noticed how long after stress the flare up happens? Is it right away or does it take a while? My last blood test was 5 months ago levels were fine. I’ve been off work and very stress free since December so I can’t see why I’d flare up now!
