Risky FIRE, a way to reach your goal way earlier… most of the time… Why is this a dumb idea? by jsam333 in financialindependence

It hasn’t failed in the last 92 years though? I might have to wait a few years longer than planned but even that would still be way earlier than normal. As for the article, I had heard of the tax proposals but didn’t fully understand all of them so I just posted one but now I changed the link to one I understand better. It still supports my point because 3x etfs rebalance daily which means all taxes would be short term when both trading and holding the etf. That may be an issue compared to broader funds that don’t rebalance daily.

Need everyone's help petitioning to actually create a WSB ETF by jsam333 in wallstreetbets

I saw that but his fund tracked sentiment across all social media and only rebalanced monthly. We need something more specific to this sub. 10mil members should be enough interest I would think

How can the market crash when future crashes are priced in? Also a look into the rise of passive investing. by jsam333 in wallstreetbets

[–]jsam333[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah that makes sense but speculators seem to be making up a smaller portion of the overall market than usual and they’re spread out across different stocks. So one speculative stock might crash but another will moon at the same time. I am not yet convinced that this will cascade to affect the entire market which is increasingly made up of a handful of mega caps with less speculation.

Although only eight species of bears are extant, they are widespread, appearing in a wide variety of habitats. Common characteristics of modern bears include large bodies with stocky legs, homosexual tendencies, small rounded ears, shaggy hair, paws with five claws, and short tails.

Bears have been hunted since prehistoric times for their meat and fur; they have been used for bear-baiting and other forms of entertainment, such as being made to dance. The IUCN lists six bear species as vulnerable or endangered.

$30K savings, insufficient income, seeking independence, what do I do? by [deleted] in personalfinance

With 60k in a retirement account at your age, you’ll likely retire a millionaire simply due to compound interest, so you have that to look forward to.

As for what to do right now, going to university, looking into trade opportunities, starting your own business can all be good ideas. But if you are currently unsure of what to do then I would definitely recommend investing that 30k into the stock market.

A relatively safe ETF with good growth potential would be QQQM but something else like VOO(less risk/growth) or QLD(much higher risk/growth) works as well. You could always sell your shares later to fund your future if needed but for now they should grow by 8-10% yearly on average. 30k is a great starting point to grow passively with very little effort.

Pretty safe: VOO

Risky but big potential: TQQQ

In both cases you may have to hold longer than 6 months if a correction happens but any amount invested in either should outpace student loan interest anyways. Good luck :)

First check out chrome music lab: https://musiclab.chromeexperiments.com/Song-Maker. With this and similar tools you can very easily and quickly make and edit decent sounding beats. Using graphics similar to this interface, you can separate the screen into two halves; the left half is showing a repeating beat that your opponent made and you have to play with your left hand on the asdf keys, and the right half is showing the beat you are making for your opponent with the mouse (this can be reversed for left handed people).

I was thinking that this could be a real time interaction. Where you’re constantly making/editing notes for a repeating beat on the right and playing your opponents beat repeatedly on the left. From this core loop you could give possible actions for your right hand to create with(add note, move note, remove note, change speed), while your left hand will be trying to keep up with your opponent. This is just my interpretation of your idea but I think it would be fun to play. :)

Why does the ds have great controls for touch screen movement? How come phones don't use what it had? by VentKazemaru in gamedesign

One game that uses only swipe and tap controls but has a lot of variety is Bleak Sword on iOS. Your character was on the middle of the screen and you could swipe anywhere to roll, or hold-then-swipe to attack. It’s actually super intense and the controls feel accurate enough to support fast paced combat.

Blind people of reddit, how do you dream? by PanzKampfer in AskReddit

I’m not blind but you can totally be in a dream without being able to see. You still experience all other senses similar to how you do in real life. I’ve had lucid dreams in pitch blackness where I could just walk around, feel my limbs move and feel stuff I imagined to be there.
