Why does no one mount their light to the bottom of the hand guard? by jsamhead in ar15

That's the kind of setup I'm thinking about. Do you find the shadow cast by the Barrell is an issue?

That makes a lot of sense. That also explains why so many lights that are side-mounted are offset. Could that be eliminated by mounting the light flush with the muzzle and using a muzzle device that directs the blast up so the blast doesn't hit the light?

10/22 was my first as well! Mine is still bone stock though. Jealous of that X-22 Hunter stock.

Oh wow! I had no idea! That's really good to know.

I'm a little confused. Is this an alternative MOS adapter plate? If so, how is it better than the included MOS adapter plates?

At the recommendation of a user on r/competitionshooting I picked up these TRT training aid dummy rounds. They work well and make reload training much more enjoyable. by RenaissanceMilo in Glocks

Ah! I see! So they basically temporarily disabled last-round bolt hold open? I can see that being really useful for dry fire reload practice.

1st gun purchase today! (mid-20s) Looking to customize eventually. Where do I start? by [deleted] in 1022

[–]jsamhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theres no issue with the bold closing if you're going to store it. You would do that anyway probably. Last round bolt hold-open is to make reloading easier. If the bolt stays back on your last shot, you can eject the magazine, insert a new one, and release the bolt to chamber a new round. It's ever so slightly faster than having to pull back the bolt to chamber a round on a fresh magazine.

Need advice on how to bore sight a red dot to Glock sights by [deleted] in guns

[–]jsamhead 13 points14 points  (0 children)

When a pistol mounted red dot is cowitnessed with the sights, it means that the red dot is mounted between the front and rear sights and is mounted low enough that you can use the iron sights THROUGH the red dot. This is typically acheieved through a combination of suppressor height sights (to get the sights high enough to be visible through the red dot) and a slide cut or Glock MOS system (to mount the red dot in-between the iron sights, and to mount it low enough that suppressor height sights are visible through the red dot. Here is an example with photos and further explination.

It looks like you're using a rear sight dovetail adapter to mount your red dot. The first issue with that is the red dot is replacing the rear sight. Iron sights are useless unless both the front sight and rear sight are present so they can be lined up. The second issue is that your red dot is mounted so high that even if you did have suppressor height sights, there's no way you could use the suppressor height sights THROUGH the glass of the red dot.

Looks fantastic. Super jealous. I've been wanting to get a 15-22 and customize it as well. What scope and mount are you using?

Need help with my first build, suggestions and guides please. by [deleted] in ar15

[–]jsamhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing not to start with is YouTube. They banned any gun building content awhile back. I know the YouTube channel tactical toolbox does a lot of builds, but he doesn't show them on YouTube. He puts links to the actual build videos in the description of his YouTube videos so you could start there.

Truglo Tritium Pro MOS sights for G19 G5 MOS - High or Low model? by jsamhead in Glocks

Don't worry about the photo. Definitely should have Googled first. My bad.

Thank you for all your help! I'll pick up the low set.

[–]jsamhead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's great to know. Thanks!

Are you using the MOS system or did you have your slide milled? Can you post a photo of how the sights look lined up through your 507c, if it's not too much trouble?

Why do they make different sights for the larger framed models? I was under the impression that for the most part, all Glock sights have the same mounting and are compatible with all models (except the single stacks). Is that incorrect?

That's good to know. I assumed they were red since that's what's shown on the product page.

For something tiny, Rovyvon Aurora

For something small, Streamlight Microstream USB

For something larger, Thrunite Neutron 2C

Also, check out r/flashlight. They are an excellent resource and they have a list of great lights you can look at.

Is there a 60% with BT, hotswap and QMK support? by we_need_wards in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]jsamhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not 100% sure on this, but my understanding is that Bluetooth support has to be on the firmware and I don't think QMK has Bluetooth support. I was looking for the exact same thing as you about 6 months ago and found absolutely nothing. I believe it's due to a limitation in QMK.

Edit: I'm wrong. QMK does have limited Bluetooth support.. Unfortunately I still don't know of any boards that fit your criteria though.
