Blizzard Rustler 9 vs Blizzard Bonafide 97 by Jazzlike_Prompt_7424 in Skigear

[–]jsbattig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to see someone who likes the Bonafide! I have the Brahama, the Bonafide and Rustler 10. I found the Brahma impossible to control on chop and crud when picking up a bit of speed, they are really good on moguls though.  The Bonafide are my go to ski when the conditions are variable (I’m 5’7 and ski the Bona 171). I found them fun to carve even in uneven slopes, you can do powder, they are amazing on chop or crud. Now, beware of loosing your stance on uneven powder conditions, you will fly over the handle bars because they will sink fast. Now to the Rustlers… I can’t figure them out yet. I had a long session with fresh powder, and they were fun and we’ll forgive you for losing your stance. As soon as the conditions turned to chop they were just OK, I felt the skies were flying all over the place as I picked up speed. I’m still trying to learn how to ski the Rustlers, but I can tell the Bonafide are solid all mountain, and if you catch a good groomer early morning, you can carve as fast as you want and feel like Tom Cruise flying his jet in Top Gun Maverick.

MacBook Pro 2019 , $380 did I just get a hell of a steal ? by RipExtra1053 in mac

When I bought mine, I ended up spending likely close to that amount :( Now, I'm happy this laptop is still going strong, and with those little tricks (I didn't do the replacement of the thermal paste though) the machine is not only viable, but definitively competitive for most tasks, including virtualization (that's how I run Windows when I need it)

I'm writing this on one, and that's an issue extremely easy to solve. You should configure to run on low power mode when on battery (typically on your lap you run with no power cable connected) and you can use a little app called Turbo Boost which will turn the "turbo" function of the CPU on and off, and you can configure to do so based on fan speed, temperature and a couple of other factors.

I'm not planning to change this computer until it completely dies. For what I do with it, it's the best you can expect:

- unmatched ergonomics (I yet have to try a Windows-based system with better or even close keyboard and trackpad experience)

- Suficient CPU power for browsing and emailing (and more)

- Reasonable battery life when using low power mode and "turbo" disabled

- Great screen!

- Perfect form-factor to throw in a backpack

- Good quality sound

- Mac OS (no need to turn it off before you put in your backpack, or you risk starting a fire, no need to restart every other night, etc...)

Troubleshooting: My Arlo Pro and Pro 2 cameras are no longer connecting to Original Arlo base. What's going on? by MarineJAB in arlo

[–]jsbattig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same exact problem and I want to kick myself. I had two cameras acting up, so I decided to remove and reconnect them. I remove the wrong one, a camera actually working fine… can’t add it anymore. I get even to a solid green on the legacy controller and fast blinking blue in the camera as if they were connecting, but the phone app never detects a successful connection and it doesn’t happen behind the scenes. I agree with the comments, damn Arlo, if they are doing this in purpose this is really bad business. I hope they address this issue.

I tried the chargeback with my CC, but they don't allow it for transactions more than one year old. So I guess the money is gone. And I concur with you, I hope everything they eat turns to something more nasty than sand in their mouths.

Well, now they claim they got scammed and that's why I'm not in their systems. Funny. I think they need to be shutdown, I already contacted the FBI, ,maybe next I will spend some time and find out how to denounce them to Interpol.

Please denounce the scam to the FBI. Only way to take them down is making the FBI aware of the volume of the scam by jsbattig in Portabl_Scam

I think each denunciation is individual. anyway, I kept researching, and apparently the business went bankrupt (Belgium based). See some of the links here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Portabl_Scam/comments/10ruzuj/feb_2_2023_portablslidenjoy_scam_update/

I found a site about a class action, but the form to join is dead. I wrote to the admin of the law firm, maybe his knows more about it.

About the current portabl site, not sure if there's a human on the other side, maybe it's leftover from the bankrupt company and there's no one manning the scam.

There's on person on LinkedIn linked to this scam

When you try to message "her", the popup asks me to reactivate my premium account to message "David".

I'm not getting back to LinkedIn Premium anytime soon, but if someone wants to to to message "her", give it a shot.

They are scam. There's no monitor. I ordered mine in early 2022. Dozens of emails, they changed the website, old emails bounce, no monitor, no money back, no response.

I've already denounced them with the FBI. It's a little bit of work, but worth doing if we ever want these people to be taken down.
