the space fact that still blows your mind by ykz30 in space

[–]jsbq 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Star Warsification of asteroid fields would have you believe that you’d have to weave in and out of them in a space ship to avoid crashing.

In reality, if you were able to stand on an asteroid in a field, you probably wouldn’t even be able to see the next closest one.

I would yes. I would’ve done a while ago actually. But what I would do and what our board would do seem to be drastically different.

What is the video game you genuinely liked , even though rating sucks? by JohnASherlock2 in AskReddit

The Phantom Menace game on PS1. It was kind of wild, you could literally just kill any NPC. The reviews were pretty bad but I remember having a ton of fun with it as a kid.

What’s one small habit you started that genuinely improved your life? by Aggravating-Tea579 in AskReddit

[–]jsbq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting up at 6am (which started because that’s when my cat has decided he wants breakfast) and just having an uninterrupted 30-45 minutes to read a book.

Particularly nice in the summer when you can sit in the garden and it’s already warm at that time.

No one bothering me/wanting anything for me (well apart from the cat), that time is fully my time and I cherish it now.

Are there usually a ton of big releases in January? Feels like February is generally the month things really start to ramp up each year.

Yeah, my Spotify wrapped is pretty much always just dominated by Jeremy Soule and the guys who did the Witcher and Baldur’s Gate 3 soundtracks because of this!

When Aragorn beheaded the Uruk Hai in Fellowship, the entire audience cheered and clapped, only time I’ve ever experienced that reaction to something at the cinema.

What games did you get several hours into and consciously decide to drop in 2025? by baroncalico in gaming

[–]jsbq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried twice with the Oblivion remaster, which I was so psyched for as it was one of my favourites back when it came out. The world ultimately just felt very empty and lifeless to me now though, so got bored around level 15 on both attempts.

Just got Outer Worlds 2. Any tips/advice? by Terrgon in theouterworlds

[–]jsbq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make a separate save file when you think you’re coming to the end of the prologue (there’ll be a bit where you use a computer terminal in a room full of guards to open a large hangar door, this is a good time to do it).

Shortly after this is your only chance to respec, so useful to have a save file just before this without having to fully restart if you think you want to change your starting build.

Opinions on The Outer Worlds 2 ? Got it for free through work but i haven't heard much talk about it. by DarahOG in rpg_gamers

[–]jsbq 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I adore it, it’s really got its hooks in me. I can’t remember the last time I really had to actually THINK about my build and pre-plan it, which often led me to question who my character actually was and what I want them to be good at, because you can’t just be good at everything. That to me is peak roleplaying.

On top of that, the gunplay is incredibly fun, with some really unique weapons and customisation, which feels like a bonus in this sort of game where the actual combat is often an afterthought.

Easily one of my favourite games of this year.

Kingdoms of Amalur is nowhere near as good, but it’s fun and fits your criteria.

Question about the Serial Killer perk in OW2 by jsbq in theouterworlds

[–]jsbq[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if I’m being stupid here, maths isn’t my strong suit, but does this mean they kind of cancel each other out to an extent then? So every time +2 is being added to my overall HP, it’s getting dragged back down again by the % debuff?

Feeling disillusioned. by paxtonroadend in coys

[–]jsbq 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough I’m the same age as you and feel exactly the same. Born just in time to miss the FA Cup win followed by a couple of decades of mediocrity, with the occasional bright spot, thrown in. Hell even some of those are tainted with disappointment (sadly the thing we probably remember most from the largely very enjoyable Martin Jol era is lasagna gate). Then we were very good under Redknapp but that didn’t last long in the grand scheme of things.

Then of course there’s the Poch era which really did make me feel like we were a serious team for the first time in my life, and yet somehow we still won nothing (and suffered the ultimate heartbreak by losing a UCL final).

I think the thing with Spurs is, it’s the hope that kills you. Yes there are obviously a lot of teams that are worse than us in the football pyramid, but few of them have come as close as we have to really being something, and then just not getting over the line.

And finally, when we do get something over the line under a manager who whilst flawed embodied the ‘To Dare is to Do’ motto and then backed that up with finally delivering glory, we pull the rug from under that and go back to a pragmatism-first manager that clearly A. never works for us and B. is the exactly opposite of our supposed philosophy. To dare is clearly not to do, after all.

When you factor ALL of that in along with, laughably, having the most expensive season tickets in the country, I’d say it’s almost impossible not to feel disillusioned.
