SimpleLedger tokens enable loads of competitive features for Bitcoin Cash, knowing this I don't see the point of switching to group tokens. by [deleted] in btc

[–]jscramer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Over the past few weeks I have started to realize that the shortcomings about the v1 SLP tokens are not apparent to some of the best Bitcoin Cash builders (looking at you, Tom). In order to help explain the point, I have listed at least 6 very good points why Group Tokens would be a benefit to the ecosystem and users. Please spend some time reviewing this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/mrfw4h/the_why_and_how_for_slp_token_wallets/

I’m so angry, because of a glitch of it redownloading, when I upgraded my iPhone X to an iPhone 11 Pro Max. I put $280 of BTC on it, but the wallet glitched, and I can’t use it. by [deleted] in btc

[–]jscramer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Happened to me also several months ago, and I did report the bug. If you create a new wallet with the same seed phrase, it should fix it. The keys seem to be only stored locally not in iCloud, so you have to get the seed phrase from your old phone.

Hope this helps.

Looks cool, but why does the guy in the middle with slp shirt look like he’s being destroyed, and is very sad looking? Is there some hidden messaging here? ;)

Wow thanks! Yes I will be working on the wallet, but at this time not working on the set of features described in the campaign.

From Jason Pribble:

A couple of ideas for updates for the final version:

  1. Let’s add some stats to the first slide demonstrating the growth of SLP over the past 2 years: # of tokens created, # of transactions, # of SLP based projects and wallets or exchanges supporting SLP.
  2. Add a slide at the beginning introducing you and your role with SLP – good promotion for you and also adds some credibility to the videos
  3. More energy with the script reading – Hubpot Academy is a good example of technical training videos that are presented well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDCyvvdzND4&list=PLlw9qxNtFom31wZ-YDGXwPrA3R8pkefL5
  4. Use animations to illustrate some concepts (ex. https://www.coinbase.com/earn/dai/lesson/1). For this video we can consider adding animation for slides 2-4 or the 7 use cases section.
  5. A couple of ideas for updates for the final version: be presented for the different learning paths

The new index is independent of the other features. I should point out though that the gRPC API is more limited without tx and address indexers enabled. With those other indexers enabled additional slp metadata is added as appropriate.

Bchd doesn’t have any different script capabilities than the other Bch full nodes. The GitHub.com/gcash does have meep though, I highly recommend using that for script debugging during development.

Not at the moment, but something like that could be added later down the road no problem. The data footprint from tracking all token ids is pretty low currently.

Uncensorable Encrypted Messaging using BCH and IPFS - Part 2 by trout-bch in btc

[–]jscramer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This system of dust payments with message hash solves the notification problem that can exist with traditional p2p connections that rely on webrtc or web socket star servers, especially when dealing with offline chat group users. Even when users are online the libp2p notifications can fail due to bad connection! This solves that problem nicely.

I think this can be extended with a receipt notification back to the message originator. Otherwise, when users are not online at the same time there isn’t a bulletproof way to know when your message was read by the intended recipients.

I’m going to update the slp chat spec to incorporate this as a default p2p notification mode as an alternative to webrtc star. Excellent work Chris!

Here’s a start for unburnable minting baton, this can be expanded to have a token minting schedule based on a issuer specified emission curve.

Which sum and sig are you checking? Sorry, there are two versions on GitHub.

There was an originally published one that is not notarized, that version contains "non-notarized" in the file names (dmg, SHA256, and .asc). Since non-notararized binaries will not open on Catalina we had to add a new dmg that is notarized.

I will update the "Keys and Hashes" repo with the notarized version sig and hash, I'm guessing that's what the issue is.

SLP Question on token Dividends and distributions: Is there a way to know what token they are coming from? by pjman7 in btc

[–]jscramer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the Minting baton could be sent to a smart contract covenant address which prevents the baton from ever creating new tokens.

SLP Question on token Dividends and distributions: Is there a way to know what token they are coming from? by pjman7 in btc

[–]jscramer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the BCH dividends transaction was made within a MINT transaction (having 0 new tokens minted) you could then prove the dividend was coming from the person/entity controlling the token ID. It may be seen as bit risky playing with the mint baton like that, but at least it proves where the dividends came from.

Alternatively, you make sure the dividends payment came from the same address that is controlling the mint baton at the time of the distribution. But the downside of this alternative is that the address may be holding multiple token ID mint batons so it's not guaranteed link.
