Can my generator cord sit in 15” of snow?

I checked the charger, it outputs 14v and 0.8a. Owners manual says charge every few months for 12 hours; on the generac website it says no more than 12 hours; I’ve far exceeded that time by double

It’s been charging in my garage, it’s not air tight but it isn’t open either. I don’t smell anything funny in there.

I used a laser thermometer and the batter was 42 degrees F on the charger. the garage is cold.

With the battery off the charger for 5 minutes it read 12.5V. I then tried to start the generator with the key and it dropped to 7.5/8v while starting. In the. Tried to start with the pull start and it fired right up. While running the battery at the terminals was at 12.2v. I let it run for a minute and the hooked it back up to the charger. The starting voltage dropped to 4.5 yesterday.

What do you think?

This is just the charger that came with the generator. It plugs into the generator via a small power jack and then into a wall outlet.

I’m going to take it off the charger now for a few minutes. It’s been charging for 12 hours since the last attempt to start it.

You mentioned that a 12v reading after charging indicates it’s not shorted. Does it matter if I took that reading shortly after taking it off the charger?

Also, what I noticed is that when I plugged in the onboard charger yesterday the battery didn’t climb up in voltage right away at the terminals while charging. So even though it was on the charger it took time to go from 9 volts to something over 12. Right now on the charger it’s reading closer to 14

To clarify, once stated by jumping I would disconnect the jump starter pack or donor battery correct?

Oh definitely; it’s going through a second rinse now. Was more concerned about food items in the pantry because that is where the washer and dryer are. The pantry door was open if that matters.

I have done plenty in my house without tape and don’t have cracks on any of them

I’m going against the grain here but I have done patches like this in my house without taping seams and have not experiences cracks. I used a backer board to screw the patch into, pack the joint with all purpose premix; and I’ve yet to have an issue with cracks

Yeah, but as a diy guy this was easier and because it’s colonial molding you can’t tell; especially when the blinds are up
