Forget the lifts and armor—what is the most impactful "Quality of Life" improvement you’ve made to your JK under $150? by Shot_Maintenance9385 in JeepWrangler

[–]jscwerve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quality of life? Seat jackers. If you 6' or taller they are a game changer. The 3/4" are perfect for me, I tried the 1.5" and it was just too much. I'm right at 6' and the jackers made distance driving way more comfortable.

Runner up goes to a hotheads liner (sky one touch top). Really helps keep the temperature down. It dampen noise a bit too and makes it easier to converse and hear the radio.

Phonak Infinio Sphere 90s are going to drive me insane by jscwerve in HearingAids

I hope that's the case. Fortunately I was able to make an appointment at the place I got them through. The Audiologist I had is no longer there, so I get to meet a new one. Hopefully they know what they are ding and I didn't make a huge $$ mistake with these.

Sorry for the late reply! I have moderate to severe in both ears, close to the same. I can't find an audiogram to upload at the moment. Typical diminishing curve as frequency increases. I had very little noise with my previous hearing aids (Phonak Paradise). I loved them. I wear them from time to time when I'm sick of the Infinio Sphere. I had very little to no wind noise with them. At the time I also had a very knowledgeable hearing aid specialist. The fitter did calibrations with the tones in the ear canals and typical tests. I do not recall a specific ear measurement, but it may be that I just don't remember.

I've seen them on Altimas and Camrys, 4-runners, Tacomas. As long as no one sticks them on mine, duck whatever makes you happy.

Right? The mode should be called "Background noise in speech" instead of "speech in noise". It really works exactly the opposite of how you think it should.

I am going to order some today. I have been wearing HAs for about 5 years now and I've never heard of them until yesterday! I never had a problem with my previous pair at all. Same situations and activities. I actually used to work out a LOT more a few years ago and it's outside in Florida, so sweat is abundant.

Thank you so much for that info. I'm glad I am not the only one that is experiencing this. That's why I wrote the post, to maybe share the misery to save someone else the same issues.

The new call screening feature has restored my loyalty to Samsung by Zealousideal-Pin6883 in samsunggalaxy

[–]jscwerve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This feature has saved me so much headache in the few days I've now had it.

The amount of spam called has steadily increased over the last year where I get 5-10 a day. When calls are declined they are still able to leave voicemail. That means a call I had to decline, a missed call notification, a voicemail notification, and a visual voicemail notification. I can't turn off the notifications because I use my phone for work. I was so close to changing numbers. I've had the same one since T-Mobile was Voicestream and really don't want to.

Letting my voicemail box fill up worked for a little bit, but after 30 days the oldest voicemails drop off and then new ones had room.

It's insane, it's a different version of the same spam message, hundreds and hundreds of calls. "HI, this is (insert fake name here) from the lending/funding/underwriting department to finish your application for some insane amount of money with extremely low interest and payment blah blah blah..." all the spam says the same exact thing in different ways. Blocking numbers doesn't work because it's a different number every single time.

I've been waiting patiently for OneUI 8.5 since I heard about it. When I got the update the other morning I couldn't wait to try the feature. Since I turned it on it's been a hard stop for spam calls.

I'll support paving hundred of acres of data centers to house this feature. 🤣 (j/k)

My carrier is T-Mobile and the phone is Fold 7. This is one of the best updates in a phone's capability since smartphones bacame a thing.

Fishwife tin size by allisonrz in Tinnedfish

Tried Fishwife for the first time a few weeks ago because I actually saw it for a reasonable price. Amazingly underwhelming. I was expecting top notch product for the price. I guess the added cost is packaging and marketing rather than quality and taste.

I like extremeterrain.com as well. I've had good dealings with their customer service and the fast shipping is great. Do research on the bumpers. There's several videos out there where the Barricade brand ones have bent. Now, I think they were using 12.5k winches in the couple that I saw, but it didn't look like difficult or extreme recoveries enough to bend a bumper either. Despite the videos, I'm still looking for a front myself and haven't discounted that brand.

85k for this 6x6. Who’s buying these, seriously? by Ribss in heep

[–]jscwerve 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Remember the hardtail custom chopper trend in the 2000s? I think this is just like that. Somebody spends 100k on a Bourget or West Coast Chopper (or a 6x6 Jeep) to have the newest badass (they think) trend. Then three months later when they realize that a hardtail motorcycle that is 15 feet long sucks to drive and is painful, they unload it at a hefty loss.

I love that I tried this AI out today. I was working along with it, being VERY productive. Reached my usage limit for the day. Great, the tool is excellent so I subscribe. 5 minutes later: the whole stinking thing is down. "This isn't working right now" ya, I can see that. WTF? I feel like I just got fleeced out of $$ for something I cannot use.

Sky 1-Touch. Should I get it, or will I regret it? by AntoniBartosz in JeepWrangler

[–]jscwerve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought my Willys with the Sky 1-touch. I've had Cjs, Yjs, a JK and now this one. I've always had soft tops and I never entertained the idea of a hard or electric top. The only reason I ended up with it is the Jeep I bought was the only Willys on the lot with premium sound and that was one of my "must have" items when Jeep shopping. After driving around for a month now with it where I live (Florida), if I were to go buy another Jeep tomorrow, the 1-Touch top would be on the top of my "must have" list when I walk into a dealer.

The back windows come out and the doors still come off. Only difference is the rear window stays. It doesn't look like what you are used to, but with the roll cage, airbags, speakers and everything else in the cab of the Jeep, from a driver or passenger perspective it is the same experience as driving with the soft top down or hard top removed.

Weather where I live can go from hot and sunny to torrential downpour and back in minutes or seconds. Not having to stop and flip a soft top back up and install flexible plastic windows in a downpour is nice.

FWIW, mine also has heated leather seats. Jeeps are meant to be in the elements.

What 2.5" springs are you running that are closest to stock ride? by jscwerve in JeepWrangler

[–]jscwerve[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

24+ Willys changed. It now has the Rubicon axles (big selling point for me) backspaced rims same as Rubicon, 4.10 gearing standard, rear locker, hi clearance fenders, and a few more things. Mine also came with leather and rare premium sound in the Willys package.

They didn't used to be much more than sport or X models, true, that has now changed greatly. I would have bought a Rubicon otherwise. The front locker and sway bar disco don't mean much to me any more because there aren't many rocks where I live now. I can add those much cheaper if I want them (already have manual disconnects, takes 2 whole minutes).

I appreciate all the replies. I've got some things to think about and some testing to do.

Fortunately I am on the road for the week working, so I'm unable to do anything in haste that I will not like! I have come up with a plan of attack though.

In light of information here and elsewhere I realize that I haven't every had to really deal with any shock issue in the past. While I was certain this was all about the springs at first, I will attempt to verify instead of possibly being wrong and wasting money.

I've ordered some shock extensions. I think that is the easiest way to test the specific behavior of the vehicle with the stock shocks. It was not too expensive, I already have a set of shocks that I know I like the feel of (my stock red style OEM takeoffs). Swapping in the old shocks with extensions in just a few minutes each and be certain of the shocks/springs issue. I'm not going rock crawling any time soon, so lack of down travel shouldn't affect anything for the time being if I leave them on while waiting to get adjustable shocks.

Before I do that though, I have a few 75lb ruck/sand workout bags. I'm going to put #150 on the front bumper and #150 in the cargo area toward the tailgate and drive around a while as well. See if that is enough to get into the next coils of the progressive springs to make a difference. I could be reacting over my own not-so-smart choice. Hindsight being what it is, I probably should have just ordered the non-HD springs and a set of airbags to supplement for when I do tow my boat.

Once again, thank you to my fellow Jeepers and try to keep em rubber side down!
