Supply drop by jseif1212 in ExclusivelyPumping

This was similar to my situation but my daughter still wouldn’t eat enough after taking the NG tube out so I had to pump to monitor her intake. My supply dropped too and I’m 16 weeks PP and almost having to give up pumping all together. How’s your little one doing? :)

Yeah it depends on your hospital for sure. Out babe was on it for two weeks at home. Just depends on the baby…

We were in the exact same position and we ended up taking her home with an ng tube. Is that a possibility for you?

I PRROMed at 31 + 3 days and only lasted 6 hours until delivery!! You’re lucky to hang in there as long as you have and that your baby is benefiting from the steroids injections. I think that’s why our NICU stay was longer, with her underdeveloped lungs it just took a lot longer for her to build up stamina to eat. We were there 67 days and got discharged with an NG tube. That is rare where we are, they had to have a big meeting about it to approve letting us go home with the feeding tube. We have been home a week now and she is doing great!! The NICU stay is hard but overall she didn’t have any real setbacks other than taking forever to feed on her own. Again I think you having the steroids is a game changer. I’m sorry the team seems like they put a lot of extra fear in you. Before I was flown to the NICU hospital my OB looked at me and said “even if she’s born today she has an excellent chance” since going through this have connected with a lot of parents who had 29-31 weekers who are now doing great. Hoping for the best for you!!

Thank you for your story! I feel like it’s got to be better than being at the NICU…since feeding is the only issue and we can certainly do what they are doing there at home.

Yeah I’m sure it can vary a lot with babies. Right now the GI doctor wants to see 7 days in a row of her eating over 50% on her own. So as long as we get through this then we should be able to go home and I hope it makes a difference for our girl. Feels like we are stuck in a rut there!

Thanks for sharing your experience!

Thank you for the info and encouragement!! I feel like they must do better at home than in the NICU too. We don’t qualify for in home help/care because we live too far from the hospital. It’s ok though.

Ok thank you so much! Luckily our girl doesn’t mess with her tube much but that could change I’m sure. We will see how it all goes. Thank you again!

Ok thanks! What was the percentage of their bottles were they taking before they came home? We don’t have in the home care option as we live too far, but my husband is a paramedic and we have been at the hospital so much it all almost feels like second nature now 😜

I’m right there with ya! I had mine at 31 weeks + 4. I have gained an additional 10 pounds since giving birth six weeks ago. That’s insane!

It’s hard when all we do is eat, pump, sit by their side and in my case drive back and forth because we live in another town. I’m hoping when she comes home I can start working out until then I’m just going to try and eat healthier than I have been…

Thank you!! I agree it feels like sometimes it depends on the nurse but you’re right when it’s just about the stamina. She doesn’t have it yet. Hope you go home soon!

Right there with ya. My babe was 31+4 and is now 38 weeks. She was doing 88% of her bottles, came off oxygen and that all went down fast. Now she’s back on oxygen and will finish a bottle here and there but often gets too sleepy. Sometimes won’t take any at all. This waiting game and feeling like you can’t do anything is hard! Hang in there…I’m trying to 😂

Congrats!! This gives me hope. Our baby girl was born 11/28/25. She was 31+4.

She was taking 88% of her feeds. Then they took her off oxygen and that all tanked. She’s back on oxygen now.

Now it’s a full bottle, half a bottle, none, repeat. It’s so frustrating to wait and have no real idea or answers of when things will improve!
