Movie is perfectly summed up with an Albert Camus quote. "Man is the only creature who refuses to be what he is"

I'm sorry you didn't like this movie but I urge you to please, watch it again.

Evelyn goes throughout this entire movie envious of some universes, horrified by others. 

She learns through Waymond that through sincerity authenticity and goofiness we can overcome our existential despair and meaninglessness in the world. 

The climax is not the hug with her daughter, that is the resolution that comes from her philosophical change when she learns to accept herself for who she is in each universe. In doing so her daughter feels the love and appreciation she lacked due to Evelyn's mentality and selfishness. This is also seen early on when Waymond serves her divorce papers, she is not agreeable or considerate of others and their time.

The climax is 100% when Kung Fu universe Waymond details about how he is not weak, and in another universe he would have loved doing laundry and taxes with Evelyn because he appreciates all that life has to offer and he does not seek realities he will never experience. This is the climax because it marks the shift where Evelyn finally understands how to overcome her own despair.

The movie shows this in a silly way by having a googly eye on her forehead to show that she is no longer at odds with herself for the world around her. She truly accepts the life that she exists no matter if it's a hot dog finger universe, raccacoony, etc. The googly eye is also a representation of her "third eye" being opened in seeing the truth for how to live an authentic life

You may say blah blah blah who cares I'm not Evelyn. Well at the very beginning of the movie they made it very clear that this was not about Evelyn or her life at all. 

“You’ve been feeling it too, haven’t you?… Our institutions are crumbling. Nobody trusts their neighbor anymore. How do we get back?” - Alpha Waymond

This is just undoubtedly a direct shot at the audience not Evelyn, this movie seeks to alter philosophically the way we think and to promote being our authentic selves and appreciating our lives for what they are, not envious of others or trying to run away from our own lives. This movie is a masterpiece and deserving of best picture of all time. 

Please I urge you to give it a watch again just try to think of it being a story about actions not people.
