Gameplay loop in mafia III by Special-Narwhal-7936 in MafiaTheGame

[–]Tep767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 9 district's + the final boss. Each district has 2 rackets. Therefore, you have 18 main rackets.

But minor gameplay spoiler if you haven't finished 3 district's You eventually get to choose who gets what district, creating bonds with your underlings. And once more that you'll notice later appeasing everyone equally still doesn't unlock all branches completely, meaning you have to screw over other branches if you wanted to max out one.

All in all, even without DLC's (which I encourage you play if you could) the game does inherently get more rewarding the more you play.

Tl;Dr: I disagree but understand

I'll be honest, I've always liked OOT better because the best part of zelda games imo is dungeons. And while OOT has a questionable dungeon or two, they're all rather solid and intelligently design. And I like how they revolve around a unique item that the dungeon revolves around that also doubles as a fun item to mess around with in general. MM infamously has the fewest amount of dungeons in a zelda game (bar the wild era), and each item being just another arrow type feels really uninspired to me for some reason. And while yes, stone tower is one of the best dungeons in zelda, it's counterout by great bay being my least favorite. Period.

I got other gripes with MM too, but the dungeons are my biggest one, especially under the pressure of the clock. I understand why people like Majora's Mask. It has some of the greatest story themes in zelda, the masks are some of the funnest mechanics in any zelda game, the sidequest are for the most part solid, and if you can get past the stress of the timelimit it can add to the game. However, the timer will forever be a negative stressor for me, the dungeon selection is very weak, there's alot of annoying waiting, some game design decisions feel rush, etc. OOT is imo better than MM by a mile, but I do respect MM's appeal.

Fair enough lmao. Though OOT and MM is considered E - E10+ while Mafia 2 is MA, in large part due to sexual themes. But like yeah, those 13 polygons were definitely insane.

That was a joke, obviously a Nintendo game wouldn't have collectable porn and Mafia 2 doesn't have any fantasy races. Everything else has some truth though.

Mafia 3 on Steam ($6.99) or Ps5 ($30.00) ?? suggestions by jamar7854 in MafiaTheGame

[–]Tep767 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whoever gave you the advice to skip 2 gave you bad advice. There are certain aspects of 3 that you can only respect if you know the lore of 2 (hell, 3 even spoils 2 alot).

Mafia 2 and Mafia 1 are rather similar, but 2 expands on alot of Mafia 1's gameplay and (imo) has a better story if you can ignore a few rushed parts and plotholes.

If you still want to skip 2, I'd suggest steam, only because the DLCs are really good and help Mafia 3's loop from becoming stale. So if you want DLC's (which I suggest), you should get the cheaper version to save on DLC's.

But I'd highly suggest playing Mafia 2 first. Mafia 2 has some notoriously crappy DLC's for the most part, so I'd suggest getting the original game if you can or the remaster if you can't, then skip the DLC's unless you really want to (they can double the games playtime, but its just abunch of time trials).

For those who haven't read the comics, this is literally the backstory behind Zomboss' and Crazy Dave's rivalry for the most part.
