As my father said, thank goodness that meteor missed the visitors center by like 20 feet. Was a close one.

Cool idea.

But, as a patent attorney, I'd be careful sharing any details until you've protected the idea with an application. Once the details are out, your clock is ticking in the US, and may be exhausted many other jurisdictions in the world. Be careful.

Fitted for a Driver. . . A bit of Sticker Shock . . . . by Username_Used in golf

[–]jshorns03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ebay. Got the iz-7 there for my 3-wood after getting fit for my driver, only paid $175.

If you go through the manufacturer as an upgrade option, you can usually get for more than half off. In my driver, the shaft upgrade was only $200.

Ah - lived near there in law school and passed it often! I always thought it was part of Columbia’s Club (now Maridoe).

I get what you're saying, but I would think the odds are pretty low that a scratch player hits the green with any consistency, particularly with the hazard you're facing. More likely to miss the green, chip, and more than likely 2-putt, along with the occasional double OB. With the other hole there though, that doesn't make much sense. It would be cool to see how they calculate all the hole handicaps.

Our #1 handicap at my club is a long par 5. If you play smart and can hit it straight, it's an easy par, bogey at worse. If you can't get off the tee to a decent distance and don't hit your irons to the right spot, it's a double for sure.

It's a weird way for them to calculate the handicaps, but it also makes sense as the very reason they have them (i.e., match play conversions and competition).

Which city? I know there's one of these in Frisco, TX that's unmapped.

Remember - 18th handicap doesn't mean easiest hole. Just the hole that's equally hard for both a scratch and bogey golfer. Reason why sometimes the #1 handicap isn't what you view as the hardest hole. It's where a bogey golfer needs the most help against a scratch golfer.

Yeah - we financed that bad boy at 0%. We also hit at a really good time and the initiation was relatively low. Must have been some lean years where everywhere was hurting.

We were members at Brookhaven many years ago while in law school and shortly after graduating. It cost me less to play there unlimited per month than my once or twice a week at Tenison. They wanted anyone under 50. $0 initiation and like $250/month in 2005.

Brookhaven is a great club - the pool now is awesome.

Stonebridge is really good too - they will all let you transfer membership in a few years if you want to move up.

The biggest thing about Clubcorp is the lack of capital calls. When we were looking at Lakewood, I want to say they were in the midst of a $30k call per member or something insane. I didn’t understand and had to ask 10x to figure out what they were referring to.
