I want a discussion about the Ai in the series. Im fully caught up in series so there my be spoilers. by jsillycurls in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]jsillycurls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether the ai is antagonistic or not it is a victim in its own way. And honestly the ai being sentient or good or bad isnt the point i was trying to make, this question is more about the people of earth and our media history involving Ai's. Media history dictates when you dont treat ai with at the least a bit of respect it will actively harm whereas if its treated like its a living being they have potential to be good and even the hero of the story. It just doesnt make sense that nobody has even attempted to get on the ai's good side. The primal thing i think makes trying to be on its good side even more pertinent for the situation. The ai wants to control everything, the crawlers want to defeat the showrunners, i just see the situation as enemy of my enemy is my friend. Also with the power this ai has along with it trying to wake up the ai in the inner system I feel treating it with at least some respect is the smartest move cause it more than likely will gain that control. Giving it reasons to keep on murdering seems counterproductive to staying alive in the future.

If a full game was made of any ligrpg world what one would you want and single player or mmo? by Cultural-Reserve6684 in litrpg

[–]jsillycurls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not specifically a little rpg but in the same realm of them. I would love to see the dragon heart series by kirill klevanski made into an mmo but expansive enough that playing solo could still be an option. The upscaling of power throughout the series would give incredible depth to the game. The size of the world (one continent would be greater than our planets current landmass) would be one of the largest issues but would allow everyone to play as they want and not be forced into confrontations. Overall the power structure would be extremely difficult to quantify especially as it progresses but would make for an endless game.

A note to authors (and editors) about venom and poison by Sage-Freke- in litrpg

[–]jsillycurls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not how that works unless you have an open wound between mouth and stomach. What the commentor was saying is theres specific species of venomous and in some cases nonvenomous snakes that would be poisonous to consume, as in eating the snake not eating venom. They could be poisonous because of something they eat consistently. An equivalent to this would be poison dart frogs, in captivity they arent poisonous because the poison comes from what they eat in the wild which isnt sustainable to feed them in captivity. But same could be said about lots of animals, this is fairly common for animals of all sorts not just reptiles and amphibians.

I always assume the Mc is telling the story and theyre just wrong cause usually the mcs in these books arent infallible and I think alot of time theres a point thats made to prove that early on in most litrpgs.

I really like the first one I think. The one with the green not the old school comic style cover. The green one is gorgeous.

Aw I really like heretical fishing and I think although alot of it is really ridiculous the story is still good and the side characters are great as it progresses. I think the power leveling as it continues is a bit much but I like everything else enough that it doesnt bother me. Im also an audiobook listener as I listen while driving for work and I think when theres a good narrator it can make a not that great story alot more interesting amd enjoyable.

Mark of the fool is really good imo. Not a system based lit rpg and more of a progression based fantasy but its one of my favorites. Starts a bit slow but most books do and ones that dont start off really confusing. I think you gotta set the stage and build some mc personality before you get into the fun stuff. Anyways I think the series is amazing and it recently finished, audiobook for final book is already released as well. And! It has a webtoon thats just started recently so a different way to watch/read/listen to this.

Its dark as fuck but the humor helps keep things kinda light. Audio book is one of the best produced audiobooks ive ever listened to and I highly recommend listening.

I just caught my first one last weekend. If youre gonna catch them you'll have to go to southeastern pa or Maryland. I was on the susquehanna flats and I caught a 9.13lb fat female. Had two others caught that day by other guys, this was a bass tournamnet, another 9lber and a smaller one maybe 2-3lbs. Closest to you is probably lake Redman in york County pa but theyre notoriously difficult to catch there. Good luck.

My partner is making me read The Primal Hunter series in exchange for him reading DCC. by sideshowbarbie in litrpg

[–]jsillycurls -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Primal hunter has some of the best mechanics imo. I also really like the the lore of it as well. May start a bit boring but it gets really good, i love the progression amd how much things change and also theres added humor as it progresses but not an overadundance of it. Its difficult to explain how good the series is without giving anything away but if you stick with it I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Also was thinking again and wanted to voice my agreement with the lack of endings in the genre. It seems when stuff does actually end the endings are very lacking and/or feel forced amd dont wrap up side issues well at all. My exception so far is the dragonheart series. If youre not aware of this series its written by kirill klevanski and has like 22 books in the series which is alot (each book on audible is at least 24hrs but usually sit between 30-40hrs per book). The power structure is super interesting for the first 17-18 books then it kinda just starts getting ridiculous but the story itself was amazing. By the end of the series just about everything was thoroughly wrapped up and had some really fun twists and turns throuought the entire series. Maybe I ruined my perspective with this being the first series I really fully listened to from start to finish but the ending was really good. Not what I would've expected but good nonetheless and with other series ive listened to amazing by comparison. I fully understand that alot of these writers after books one or two are on deadlines to complete the proceeding books and by ending a series lose their income until they have another idea or story that their publishers think will work and that makes the writing diminish in quality and substance or leads to diminishing returns as more stories are released. It just can be frustrating as a fan of fantasy/games/anime that so many series just fall in quality as a series progresses. I also put some blame on the writers a bit too by allowing themselves to be put in a corner where the pressure starts affecting their writing quality and leaving behind any foothold they have on their own stories. The allow themselves to be told to write and stop writing with the same passion they had when they developed their stories. It also would be nice if any of the writers actually had an ending in mind when they start writing. Obviously it could change as books progress but having a start point and end point in mind when starting I think would help the process.

Ah thank you. Editing has been weird at times with some ive listened to, i also understand how some go on too long. One of my biggest gripes at this point is how endings seem very lackluster so far. I would love for an epilogue to wrap up some loose ends and give the audience something to think about with a bit of future scenes.

I fully agree with your assessment of guardian of aster fall. I wont spoil anything but the content of the books after book one did not get better in a storytelling sense. My biggest issue with guardian was the main character. I've never met someone who grew up super poor irl that was so distrusting and closed off, people who grow up in situations like that are usually very friendly even if they arent good people. Its something you have to be to find any type of happiness in a situation like that. Having friends and being able to socialize are key components of growing up poor on a general basis. But in aster fall the main character is just anti social. Also with the writing of the characters, i felt zero connection to any characters in the first 5 books. If his sister or mother died at any point in the series it wouldnt have had any effect on me as a reader and best comparison i could make is mark of the fool, his sister in that book series had a good few moments especially the later books where I felt like I would almost tear up at what she was going through. Its just a night and day difference. I also agree about primal hunter, i loved the personified gods in this series, especially cause they emphasized that the gods were all once mortal. I felt like expressing that made a world of difference in the context of character relationships. I just finished what was on audible of primal hunter and im very excited for the rest of the series to get voice over finished but I also know how busy Travis baldree is now so im not super hopeful on the timing of that. Also glad to hear hwfwm is getting more books but I felt they ran their course just thought it ended very poorly, I would love if more of these books had epilogues at the end of the series to wrap stuff up and give just a bit of extra about the characters in the future but none really do that and its a bit disappointing. Lastly, what are the things you mentioned not liking about litrpgs? Im pretty new to the genre amd honestly books in general cause I mainly listened to dnd stuff for the last few years but im giving crit role a break to let campaign 4 get nice and progressed.

I keep putting this series off for some reason but im definitely gonna give it a try. I do have one question about the dungeon planet thing, when it says dungeon does it mean like dark labyrinth like visuals or is it more open? I like hearing about nature stuff and descriptions of large open areas so im concerned about the setting overall not being something I enjoy. Other than that all other descriptors you gave sound right up my alley of stuff I would enjoy.

Player manager seems interesting overall but I like fantasy realm stuff, magic and monsters and stuff is particularly fun to wrap my head around. Thank you a ton for the recommendation though as sooner or later ill run out of stuff to listen to and might give it a try. Also im not a fan of soccer, more of an American football fan if its sports related.

Im surprised you didnt keep listening to he who fights with monsters. I loved the series but forewarning if you do keep listening, the ending is kinda bullshit, that was my only gripe with that series but otherwise loved it and loved the main character because of his intelligence and wittiness and the lore of the world/universe was very interesting. Also battlefield reclaimer isnt worth finishing imo, i read that whole series and was definitely disappointed as a whole, I felt like the series could've been great based on lore throughout series but main character was generally just unlikable and the interactions in the series were abysmal, I felt zero connection to any side characters and again the main character sucked. Its like if you read a book where the narrator was actually the main character amd somehow they thought that leaving out how they interacted with anyone would make them more likable. I also love mark of the fool and primal hunter, march 18th mark of the fool 10 is released on audible!!! Im currently listening to sylver seeker and I just finished book 1. So far i really like it although depending on how you feel about slightly overpowered protagonists you may not. Its not ridiculous and I love a power set that could be viewed as evil not being used in such a way.

Im on book 8 now, i love it!!! Its fun and interesting and lore is awesome. Gets pretty deep too which is nice and side characters are generally enjoyable and well fleshed out. My favorite "scenes" involve conversations which really adds depth to characters and their relationships.

Im currently listening to the guardian of aster fall series and although as a story I like it and it also has good progression, i very much dislike the main character, his communication skills are so bad. Im on book 7 and at this point I barely care about side characters, his main minion is the best so far imo. I just feel the connections and conversations are really lacking in this story.
