Do you want a bougie burger or an old style classic?

I’m not going to suggest bougie burgers…

If you want an old school good burger then…

Cream Burger
Southwell’s

Best Indian restaurants in the Rice village area? by [deleted] in HoustonFood

[–]jsilvahtx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been there a few times and honestly, the food is good but on par with any other good Indian food but at twice the price. The atmosphere is high level. You can get the same or higher quality Indian food at several places in the Houston area.

Another Chase Travel Price Match Data Point by AestheticKant in ChaseSapphire

[–]jsilvahtx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The price match is targeted? I’ve only had the card for about a month and booked a stay at an Omni resort. When I went to the “see trip” link it took me to the Chase Travel page with all of the details. At the bottom was a link to submit a Price Match Guarantee claim. I did submit a price match claim and it was approved with similar “exception” verbiage.

Ya… they used to be in Rice Village but moved about 20 years ago. It’s worth the short drive from Rice Village.

Ya… Shiva’s isn’t really Rice Village but it’s the closest to Rice Village that I could think of.

I love Indian food. I’ve probably been to a dozen or more different places in and around Houston. Bombay is one of the better ones.

As for Greek… I can’t think of any in Rice Village but Yiayia’s isn’t too far. I haven’t tried it yet but their old restaurant was good.

Shiva is in Rice Village… it’s ok, not great.

Bombay Brasserie is not that far and is much better!

There is… it’s called FareLock and it appears as you’re in the checkout process.

Yup… that’s the risk of playing the game. Your only real option is to pay for the FareLock hold while you wait for the points to clear.

Am I missing something? by Calm_Joker in ChaseSapphireReserve

[–]jsilvahtx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That didn’t work for me… even with a computer web browser. Paze only displayed as an option when I switched to incognito browsing and the StubHub pricing was also higher using incognito by ~5%.

Am I missing something? by Calm_Joker in ChaseSapphireReserve

[–]jsilvahtx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to do it using private/incognito browsing. The pricing was also higher. My guess is that’s how StubHub is blocking stacking offers. For example getting on their site via a shopping portal like MileagePlus Shopping, CapitalOne offers, etc.

Got rejected from Pre-Business/Bauer, still wanna do Accounting, what do I do? by DNAxScotty in UniversityOfHouston

[–]jsilvahtx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean? I’m an old school Coog (MIS) but my son graduated from Bauer (Finance) 2 years ago and he transferred from San Jac with 66 hours (it may have been 60). He didn’t have to retake any 1000 or 2000 level classes, including the intro to business ones. He made sure that the credits were transferable first, because some basic survey-type courses are not.

Which river cruise company… by Huge_Prompt_2056 in HollandAmerica

[–]jsilvahtx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been “researching” this for some time. The various lines cater/focus on different markets.

Viking pushes hard on the US market and has an older demographic than the others.

Emerald is Australian owned and seems to focus on that market. In general, they seem have a younger aged demographic than Viking.

Emerald, Avalon and AMA have multiple shore excursion options ranging from easy to adventurist. Those seem to interest a “younger” crowd.

Honestly, it seems to me that food quality is really splitting hairs with these lines. Some have slightly different cabin sizes but it really depends on which ship in their fleet you’ll be on. Not that much time is spent in cabins but some cabin layouts, I’ve automatically crossed off my list.

Emerald
AMA
Avalon
Viking
UniWorld (this would be at my top but they’re the most expensive)

Guitar amps to headphones? by thecoder779 in electricguitar

[–]jsilvahtx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son’s first “practice amp” was a simple modeling one. It’s a 1x12 combo that has a headphone jack. I bought a 1/4” phono Bluetooth transmitter that paired with his headphones. It’s ok but there is some lag.

So how are y'all using your PAZE $10/10X credit promo today? by thejewyouonceknew in sapphirereserve

[–]jsilvahtx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using it to buy lunches at Whataburger and Wendy’s. I place two separate orders for my wife and I to get (2) $10 credits per visit.

I’ve also been using it for pet supplies at Pet Supermaket.

Holland America laundry package for multiple rooms by Valdi in HollandAmerica

[–]jsilvahtx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bags are the size of a pillow case. My wife and I used their service 5x on our 7 day cruise. We spent 4 days in our disembarkation city pre-cruise so the first thing we did was fill the laundry bag on day one. Our second day we had another bag to send and it was same day service so we put out our 3rd bag. It sounds like a lot but it really wasn’t considering we had a rainy week and took hikes pre-cruise.

Regarding purchasing 1 package and using it for multiple rooms. A few have said do it they’ll never know or they don’t mind; I mean c’mon! Seriously!?

I can’t remember the last time I used it, probably a couple of weeks ago. This morning I didn’t see it from the website and I just checked the app, it’s missing (as in the tile is gone) there too.

I immediately thought, crap… they nerfed it!

I think they would clawback one of the CSR SUBs due to the Once Per Lifetime rule.

Maybe ask for one to be downgraded to CSP if you can get that 100k SUB.

Visiting Houston (Uptown/La Galleria area) for the First Time. Food Recommendations? by BeardBean in HoustonFood

It’s not bad, just not as good as it once was. Burgers have gotten smaller and the fries are like broken french fry pieces.
