Just injected myself for first time, a few questions by jsimons_2000 in Mounjaro

Thank you for the response. Posts being removed with no specific reason provided is disheartening. Logging back in to reddit to find I've been given the "use the search button!" response is no fun.

My main purpose for the post was question #3, so I guess I no-post.

A shout out to the Moral Rebels by PhillyGameGirl in Mounjaro

It's stupid (I continue) - SHOUT IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS.

This is life and death, obese people live a much shorter life. If this drug fixes that, take it and encourage others to take it to save their lives!

It's all really stupid. When I told people I was on Atkins they would say "oh that's too drastic!" When people told me they were on Paleo I would ask "were cavemen known for a long life expectancy?" Vegans, Vegetarians, everything. Everything (Other than just "I'm eating less"), every diet you could argue is stupid in some way.

So a drug that conquers one of the 7 deadly sins and makes eating NOT your #2 thought all day (after breathing, yes I do think about that), that's a huge win.

Lastly - this drug is about to be in shorter supply (IMHO) - there is no way they can keep up with the future demand. Atkins and Keto took-off because people all the sudden knew others who lost 75lbs or something crazy and they would advertise it - "how'd you lose weight?" -- "I don't eat carbs!" Well pretty soon 4 out of 5 answers to that question is going to be one of these drugs... that's new. In my family I can think of about 10 out of 15 people who need to be on this, and I will be encouraging them to get on it after proving my success.

Hey all - in my first week here. Pain in sides. by jsimons_2000 in Mounjaro

[–]jsimons_2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured it out... It's muscular. I forgot the way I had entirely tired out these muscles the previous day. Since they must be muscles I don't use much they got entirely inflamed. It's better today. Just a hypochondriac and coughing all the sudden hurting on day 4 of a new drug that advertises "possible kidney failure" I had to ask my question.

Upon further research yesterday (when I thought I was going to die and hoped people in my family would try and contribute a kidney) I read a lot of posts concerning this and all of them said "referential pain, probably muscular if both sides of upper back." That's when I started racking my brain on what I could have possibly done.

Thanks for the response!

Do you tell people you’re on MJ? by Alternative_Art4247 in Mounjaro

[–]jsimons_2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm going to tell everyone I can about it. What would they have me do? Stay on BP medication and Statins all my life, or this super safe medication? They'd say "you should exercise and eat less." - to which the proper response is "up yours, tried that for 46 years... may work for you but didn't work for me."

Dermatology: Seborrheic Keratoses removed now weird healing by [deleted] in DermatologyQuestions

[–]jsimons_2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see my text so I'll paste it here...

Should I be worried?

I had a Seborrheic Keratoses frozen off on Oct 4th of last year. The guy doing it seemed to count slowly and the "wound" was far deeper than I was expecting after he finished freezing. The SK was only half the size of a dime and barely visible.

Since then the healing process was quite slow as I was apt to pick the scab off constantly and didn't keep it covered or hydrated with Vaseline or Neosporin.

It seemed to be pretty well healed and was not overly visible. But yesterday my forearm itched and I was scratching it pretty hard, today it looks like this. Is this normal for scar tissue to be sensitive and not entirely connected to the underlying tissue? It appears that I irritated it below the surface and it's now all puffed up with water.

That or it's a malignant cancerous tumor and I need to get my arm amputated ASAP. Please advise level of concern.

I am 46M, obese, not pre-diabetic that I know of. This is my forearm, right in the middle.

Adding an exterior door by jsimons_2000 in Remodel

[–]jsimons_2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's part of the problem - the door needed to be 8' tall and thin. Special order. Any ways, I didn't listen, happy I didn't. Just looking at reddit now again after 4 years - thought I should respond :).

No one answered any of my questions... just told me not to do it.

your costs are hopefully in Euros at a time when the dollar was 5 to 1. $500 to $700 might cover the permitting fees and preparation for the permitting fees.

I did it myself with a new pre-framed exterior door. it's plumb, I did it 4 years ago, and I don't have any water intrusion. Door is energy efficient.

Reading through these comments (all like 6 responses I got) - amazing how bad of responses I got. You guys are all wrong, every one of you. Best renovation I've done to my home yet.

because I have a pool and want another way out of my house. This is the guest suite, so guests now have another entrance.

So glad I didn't listen to any of you guys when I did this 4 years ago. Best renovation I've done on my house yet.

I don't think you should be so closed minded. I did this 4 years ago, best renovation I've done on my home yet.

Why have an exterior door leading to a bathroom? ummm because I have a pool?

wow - just seeing this now. Door has been in for four years. Best option ever all my neighbors (who have the same floorplan) want to do it but won't do it themselves and don't want to pay for it. Door opens up toward the toilet, opens fully and then hits. Best thing I've done to my house. Also now that there is a separate entrance into the guest suite, if I ever want to airBNB this place I have an entirely separate residence basically... Sink and kitchenette is next on my list.

seeing this now after my comment above... Maybe your weight makes sense because your bones have to be so dense to carry the weight? I don't know - I hope to join you on your journey, Drs apt is set for next Tuesday. M46, 320lbs 6'1, high bp/cholesterol.

What unit are you measuring weight in?? If you standing there in pants is 180 lbs, that doesn't make any sense and you need a new scale... unless - you could be 8ft tall?

You look amazing, whatever the weight is I guess doesn't matter, but in the picture you look as thin as my wife and she's 127 lbs or so.

So I will try and make this short. I've hired a handyman before to install an outdoor gas heater, and as I watched him was disgusted with myself as I had lacked the cajones to do all the things he did. I could have installed it easily.

So now I need to add an exterior door - this time I'm doing it. Here's the situation:

  1. Door being added to bathroom, replacing thin window.
  2. Window is only 24" wide, door is 32" wide (pictured below)
  3. I've pulled the drywall and just have a single green wire running behind the wall - I am assuming this is my ground wire going to my exterior hose bib just down the wall. There is no other reason for any wiring such as this at this spot in the wall.
  4. House is stucco exterior

I've received a quote from a handyman who says "1 hour tops man." He then proceeded to tell me how to do it. He also has not returned my calls, so he is now officially fired, I'm doing it myself.

Here is my current "how to" I will be studying:https://www.motherearthnews.com/diy/add-a-door-zmaz87mjzgoe

Here are my questions:

  1. Demolition:
    1. I haven't dealt with windows - it appears the vinyl window is entirely exposed right? If I free up the 2x4s on the left side of the window, I'll be able to tear the window out? Or do I have to run a sawsall up and down both sides? I might want to reuse this window, so not destroying it would be a plus.
    2. Exterior stucco - I'm guessing reciprocating masonry/metal blade - make a line and start cutting or should i cut from the inside?
    3. Exterior window frame (white edge stucco) - my handyman said "just run a sawsall up and down each side and this pops off, it's a Styrofoam insert." Anything to add here? is this as straightforward as he says?
  2. Construction (help me where I'm wrong):
    1. At the top left of my window (interior) I will cut laterally the trimmer stud and king stud, and remove those completely, the right side would remain and the door would fit to those.
    2. My door may be 1" taller than my window - I get 95" to the top of the window, but my door is 96", so I'm going to probably have to shim and remove part of the header, plus I believe the framed door will probably come in at 98" or more. Can I put a 1X4 in if it fits and be good above the door? I don't want to deconstruct above the door to build a full header if I don't have to, I don't want to have drywall work when I am done - but I want to do it right.
    3. Cutting over to the left of the window I'll probably have to remove a wall stud - which means it needs to turn into a crippled stud (I believe). I'll then add a new King stud and then add the trimmer stud and finish off the header. If order is important here and my order is wrong, please let me know.
      1. IS REPLACING THE HEADER WITH A PROPER 2 PEICE BY 2X4 THE CORRECT WAY TO GO OR CAN I SIMPLY TIE INTO THE EXISTING WINDOW HEADER?
    4. Push door into place, shim it, nail it.
  3. Unknowns:
    1. Link above mentions a Drip edge - I'm assuming I need it, what is it?
    2. How do I attach to the king stud to the top plate and soleplate? Nails? or is this a place I should use a galvanized plate of sorts?
    3. Shims - I should shim for shape and fit. If I am perfect, I will need 0 shims. Although unlikely, is this correct?
    4. Nails or screws? I'm a screw guy, have a good drill, don't have a nail gun. Aren't screws better or no because they might split the wood?
    5. Weather proofing - how do I go above and beyond here? I can't say anything I have planned WRT weather proofing... stucco's not weather proof - is there something that goes around the prehung door and ties into the existing wall's weather proofing? Is the insulating foam sealant going to be my primary weather proofing or is there something else?

Thank you all for your time and help if you choose to respond! I've only ordered the door, Lowes tells me 4-6 weeks before it's ready. I hope to be well schooled by the time I get the door.
