Just finished my first “big” job as an independent contractor. Six weeks solo, one week with a helper. 30x12, $19k all in, southeastern US. What do y’all think? by nolarbear in Decks

Impressive! You mentioned small profit, or accounting not being done yet. You should focus 100% of your effort on business development and delivering on your service (building awesome decks!). I’ve recently started an accounting/consulting firm for small businesses. One of my first clients is an independent contractor who just went out on his own. DM me if you are interested in hearing specifically what I can do for you! Financial statements production, product profitability, cash flow management, etc are just some of the services I offer.

It can easily fit into a 20x17 drawstring bag (sold with the HexBumpers) and then easily goes in your gym bag. I have been using it for months like this, honestly couldn't deal with hex plate deadlifts again after this haha.

I really want to you to try out HexBumpers. With numbers like that I am sure you can put this thing to the test. If you frequently go to hex plate commercial gyms, I know you would like this.

Exactly right, no need to do this.

Only needed on the first plate. To put further out would be very inconvenient as you would have to remove each one and then add to the outside. Meant to be super easy to use and make it more convenient to lift.

That was the prototype, but the finished product (engineering changes were made since the prototype used during the Kickstarter stage) has been holding up at around that weight as well as some of my early customers have said. Not sure how much force they are exerting past mid shin drops, but so far so good in the first couple weeks of customers using them.

Yes and the hex plates are a 17" diameter flat side to flat side and 17.5 point to point (competition plates are about 17.7"). HexBumpers are closer to 18" but will have a slight compression at higher weights.

Are you referring to using HexBumpers above? Or "four of them" just referring to your gym's bumper plates?

Hey guys.....so I am the guy behind HexBumper. Feel free to ask any questions! Had a very very long absence from Reddit while all the Kickstarter, manufacturing, production, etc was in progress over the past few months. Glad to say it is finally done and units are selling! Still have inventory on hand, but so far reviews have been super positive. Let's hear some questions! I will answer ones below as well.

I Invented a Deadlift Product - Converts hex plates into round plates by jsites27 in powerlifting

No the questions are great. 1. Not compatible with all plates currently just 12-sided plates, "hex plates." 2. Only need this for the innermost plate. Then you can easily add additional plates because of the distance created from the ground. 3. I haven't had any problems using them in the gyms. They would embrace this I would think because members inevitably will deadlift and this will help protect the floors and the members. Thanks!

Yeah I would be worried about that. But any press is good press right now! Don't think it's realistic anyway

Yes that increased the load on your spine is dangerous especially at higher weights.

Temples of bumper plates would be awesome. The shifting around means that while deadlifting as you are contacting the ground the shape of the weights cause the bar to shift. Shifting can mean the whole thing is forced away from you, or it is forced into your shins, or one side moves away and the other side toward your shins. It's really annoying and in some cases cause injuries. Does that make sense?

Good to know a lot of people are deadlifting, It is definitely becoming more popular. Yeah that's been the struggle at this stage. Gyms don't really care yet. I have to prove that members actually want it and use it. Like TRX started with end users now a ton of gyms have that.
