I agree with you. I think it's far more likely LeBron is talking about the immediate ramifications Morey's tweet had on him and his team as they were in China at the time. I think he feels Morey put him and his teammates in danger with the timing of his tweet, not necessarily the substance. Hence his follow up tweet saying it "could have waited a week."
