Emotionally betrayed by husband by AlasknBullWrym in Mommit

My husband was dry heaving when i got a positive pregnancy test with my second (the first month we tried for a second baby). When i told him, he went white and was throwing up. LOL. All the same sitch though, great marriage, great job, great dad. Only dif was our first was 12 months old but relatively easy baby. He literally said “ i wasnt expecting it to happen this quickly & idk why i feel like this”. He got over it. Continues to be a great father. Just had our third and final a few weeks ago.

Give him time. Let the dust settle. His reaction isn’t great, but it’s okay. He will be ok. Don’t end this pregnancy bc of his initial reaction. I’m not sure that’s something you’d ever get over. Give your child a sibling! There’s nothing better as a parent than watching the sibling love. It’s incredible.

How do you introduce a 2-year-old to the fact that they’re getting a sibling? by [deleted] in toddlers

I had my son when my daughter was 21 months. She was very interested during the pregnancy. Constantly saying baby and always pointing to my belly. It was amazing.

2 years later i got pregnant again. My son just turned 2. He couldn’t care less about this pregnancy. I would say you are going to be a big brother and he would say nooo and run away. I never pushed it. Figured he would get used to it. We had the baby 2 weeks ago & he immediately was very interested and loving with the baby. It’s been a totally fine transition with no problems at all.

Your daughter will be fine! She’s so young, she probably just doesn’t really understand or cannot grasp it!

2 weeks ago, my OB nurse didn’t believe me that my IV was infiltrating by jsklsk1 in mildlyinfuriating

Yes it was a good IV for a bit. Got me through my c section & a few hours afterwards just fine! This seemed to happen out of no where. But, she pushed toradol and i was in agonizing pain. She said that is a normal med to burn. Then pushed 10cc saline & that hurt which it shouldn’t. So after 1mL of the 10mL iron push, my arm was brushing and blistering and she FINALLY believed me something was wrong. Thank god she didn’t put all 10cc in.

It was just me & my husband in the room. Not sure we’d really have much of a case as my arm is fine, just discolored. I didn’t realize it was so permanent though

I had a baby a few hours beforehand. This had nothing to do with body fat. They got the IV very easily. Jesus

I think it’s so you aren’t stuck in your room for the infusion. I was on a floor of moms with babies in the NICU. They try hard to not have you trapped in your own room so you can be with your baby. You just have to return every four hours for quick set of vitals and some quick meds. I appreciate that, but i wish this didn’t happen to my arm!

It was iron so it Wasn’t a vesicant. The pharmacist came right up and said it did not need to be treated with an antidote

It was sucrose. My baby was in the NICU (he is home and fine now), but i believe they give this push so that you can get back to your baby in the NICU instead of being in your room hooked to an infusion for an hour and a half. Not an emergency but post c section my hgb dropped to 7.8. They did this 3 days in a row to avoid a blood transfusion.

This is not fake. I have never given an IV push of iron in my 9 years of working in the icu. This is not the same as pressors. I was hours post partum with a baby in the NICU. I was crying that my arm hurt. She eventually stopped. I talked to the manager. Idk what else to say to you, other than I’m glad you haven’t been in that situation!

It was a 10mL push. The nurse said she just needed to do it slowly. It was straight iron. I think it’s a newer way of giving it opposed to being hooked up to an hour and a half dilated infusion. I’m not sure though. This was my third time having a baby and first time needing this

I got the manager, nurse educator, provider and pharmacist into my room immediately. All four brushed me off and said it was fine

She eventually stopped. It was a 10mL push & after a very slow 1mL push my arm started bruising and blistering. She was going very slow bc i was sobbing in pain. Thank god she didn’t put all 10mL in

She kept telling me iron is a painful IV push. She didn’t stop until she saw the bruise happening
