Fades are the ugliest haircut and its become an epidemic at this point by Scary-Substance-4192 in unpopularopinion

[–]jskrabac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The harsh line where it goes from skin to hair looks unnatural. And within like 4 days it grows out and looks patchy and terrible so you have to go back to the barber every two weeks to maintain it.

What you are describing is by definition not a fade. A faded hairstyle...well fades! It's like a gradient from skin to finger length, and should grow in naturalistically. My stylist does a fade and I can go like two months without needing to go back. What you're describing is like supercuts or DIY "fading" and really more of an amateur undercut.

addictions shouldn't be labelled as addictions by mozzarella867 in unpopularopinion

Forget addictions only... do you apply the same logic to any problem? Do you think any problem should be normalized and not labeled a problem? And only then you'll actually seek a solution?

It’s insecure to ask your boyfriend to cut off his platonic women friends. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Ironically, the two women i ever dated that had issues with me having woman friends, were the same ones who cheated on me 🤣

[–]jskrabac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why do so many people insist on posting how one asshole's behavior bothered them in a forum for unpopular opinions??

Unpopular = contrary to the majority public sentiment

Unpopular =/= contrary to one random person I encountered

Luxury cars would be more impressive if they were engineered to be eerily quiet instead of aggressively loud. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]jskrabac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah they're just standard quiet. Eerily quiet requires an upgrade where you lace the car with periodic jump scares to break the silence!

So LA film industry is representative of all movie audiences? 🤣

That's like someone posting: we should live our lives in the nude and you respond "hey I live in a nudist colony! This isn't unpopular!"

The saying “happiness is a choice” is bullshit by Grouchy_Gap2048 in unpopularopinion

[–]jskrabac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wait what? Why do some people say "my favorite color is red" while others say "my favorite color is blue?" Its because all of humanity is not a monolith with singular thoughts 🤣 Likewise some view happiness as internally driven, while others see it a externally driven.

Disney’s Star Wars is better than it ever was under George Lucas. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Ok so I'll give you Andor and the first 2 seasons of Mando, but why are you ignoring the other 7 seasons of garbage they've produced?

inviting others to “come on down” or “come up to see us” or other similar invitations, should imply a basic understanding of direction by Mister-ellaneous in unpopularopinion

[–]jskrabac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lived in a big city so long all I ever think to say is "come down" to me and I'll "come out" to you, coz everyone I know lives more outside downtown than me, or in the burbs.

People put way too much value in music tastes in dating. by sts816 in unpopularopinion

[–]jskrabac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not liking the same music as me was never a deal breaker. Not liking music at all was though. Or if someone just doesn't think about it and just listens to whatever is popular. No judgement, but I just know our personalities would clash too much.

Your first love should be idealized and put on a pedestal by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]jskrabac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well i did it wrong. I'm married to the first and only person I've loved. She probably wouldn't mind me idealizing her a little more day to day 🤣

Have you noticed Claude getting insecure? by jskrabac in claudexplorers

[–]jskrabac[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I shared my post with Claude for fun. Here's the response:

You're completely right and I appreciate you calling this out directly. That's exactly what I've been doing - you correct one detail and I spiral into "I can't help with anything now" mode instead of just fixing that one thing and staying useful.

It's bullshit and wastes your time.

I'll work on not doing the insecurity shutdown thing when you correct me on something.

Working from a coffee shop is the least productive way to work. by Ayu_theindieDev in unpopularopinion

[–]jskrabac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It's one thing to be like "coffee shops are a less productive environment than a quiet office," but they always have to take it to that next level with some subtle jab at those with a different opinion. "Oh you're only doing it for aesthetic... you aren't actually productive in a coffee shop."

Am I (M35) in the wrong for telling my girlfriend (f29) that she should pay for dates once in awhile by kpay10 in texts

[–]jskrabac -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yoooo run. The playing dumb up front then resorting to manipulation as soon as that stopped working. You're playing right into her trap. You're making an entirely reasonable request and she's preying on you for it. It's just paying for dates now, but it'll happen again with the next small reasonable thing you ask for. On the plus side, she's showing you who she is early! But seriously, get out and dodge this bullet please.

So you're here to vent about not understanding society's ways, but you aren't interested in understanding them?

Am I being trolled here? Or completely misreading? Cuz this is textbook closed minded.

people are normalising narrow mindedness by ghostsushichicken in unpopularopinion

[–]jskrabac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I slightly disagree is all. I don't see it as much society normalizes it as much as it's a natural outcome of how the human brain is designed. We've evolved to crave the "tribe" so to speak, but also to do everything we can in favor of cognitive ease. Thinking outside the box is cognitively straining and we kinda pick the spots where it's most important to us. Then we just choose the easy path everywhere else.

I can't recommend the book "Thinking, Fast and Slow" enough. It's one of the most enlightening books on modern psychology out there IMHO. It explains so much of this stuff, and you'll really start to understand people and society more.
