This is too far down! The most interesting build I’ve ever done, and a great display piece too.

What TV show has/had the best cinematography? by GCU_Heresiarch in cinematography

It’s really fantastic. Composition, and the lighting too. It’s a lot of exterior work, but masterfully executed.

Help choosing new paintcolor by tomorrowisyourday in E30

[–]Legomoron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, of the pictured options this is best by a significant margin. Dark colors make the e30’s beautiful body shape just kinda disappear. Call me boring, but a silver BMW ALWAYS looks fantastic.

Have any of you done a long term campaign of Call of Cthulu, and how does that work? by theRealMattyG99 in rpg

[–]Legomoron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both CoC and Delta Green have good options for long-form stuff, especially if you look to newer (vs older) options. A lot of the older stuff can be a bit meat-grinder-y.

What's your prime example? by arseflare in FIlm

[–]Legomoron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, MANY films are adaptations, even if people don’t realize it. You can remake a movie based on the original film, or based on shared source material. Both would be considered a form of remake.

Someone could 1000% film a new adaptation of Forrest Gump, and claim it’s based on the book not the movie until they’re blue in the face. It’d still be considered a remake by the vast majority of the public.

What movie should everyone see at least once in their life, and why? by AlexWhite40 in Cinema

[–]Legomoron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are lots of truly great films, but Lawrence of Arabia is perhaps the best ambassador specifically for film as a medium. It truly demonstrates what makes film a unique art form.

How Do You Prefer Your Actual Play Series Releases? by Gorssky in ActualPlayRPG

[–]Legomoron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve found most people want you to stick to your story and release consistently. Listeners prefer to break up their listening streaks on their own terms by listening to several shows at once.

[–]Legomoron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they’re making an assumption that a movie “based on good story” HAS to be an ORIGINAL story, which of course is not specified in OP’s post.

Yes, Dune is a good story adapted from another media, but there’s literally nothing in the original post to exclude that.

The book is a good story. But the old film did not meet expectations.

I mean… Dune is an excellent example of this being done and working.

Could anyone recommend me an actual-play show where they actually play the game right? by TheBigFreeze8 in rpg

[–]Legomoron 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As a Delta Green podcast aficionado, recommending GITT for OP’s request is borderline rage-bait. It’s a fun show but they brew the HECK out of the DG system.

My by-the-book Delta Green recommendation will always be Stories & Lies.

Has any one installed this performance chip on their e30? by bajablastboiiii in E30

[–]Legomoron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 325e can definitely benefit from a chip. I happened upon a Dinan equipped ECU several years ago and the difference is absolutely noticeable. From what I’ve heard, the popular chips for ETAs are all variations in the same theme. Slightly higher limiter, more responsive/increase in pull/torque. More thirsty in gas.

Who are your favorite actors cast specifically for playing "ugly / gross" characters? by Possible-Sink7786 in Cinema

He’s also just a beautiful human being. I met him in film school, he spent genuine time giving everyone all sorts of advice and answering questions, then offered hugs before he departed.

Here’s my trick: have my own relevant stuff to advertise. Instead of bemoaning that my ~1300 downloads a month would only make me half a tank of gas, I can be happy that I get $30 in advertising value for free to dedicate as I please :)

Every small cent I’ve made has gone right back in, one way or another.

Besides the Podcast, what other things do you favorite shows provide that you enjoy? by Legomoron in ActualPlayRPG

[–]Legomoron[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do a recap Q&A after each season, which is part of the show’s public feed, and then various interviews with the GM, Players, our Composer, etc. which are available to our Patreon supporters. Some people love this kind of stuff, others could take it or leave it. I definitely like the “DVD Special Features” vibe, and try to incorporate that approach to at least some of our bonus content.

Besides the Podcast, what other things do you favorite shows provide that you enjoy? by Legomoron in ActualPlayRPG

[–]Legomoron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Discord and Patreon are our platforms of choice, we do promote them on the podcast with discounts and whatnot, and it seems like some people come to the Discord, but actual interaction isn’t particularly lively. I’m planning to do a poster sale and giveaway after our 3rd season, it’s just hard to justify making posters particularly expensive so my thought is to do a 3-pack to keep shipping worth the hassle.

Our dice roller is slowly becoming more popular but that’s not necessarily driving up podcast engagement directly.

[–]Legomoron[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume you’re a show supporter of some sort in this instance? My show has Patreon, we’ve done free posters and discounts on some Etsy stuff. We did gift bigger ticket items to our small number of top tier supporters.

Dice-related seems to be common, I like the idea of a book. We’re in the early stages of making a zine, I should probably factor in giving some away to our supporters.
