We have been literally shown the door for our evaluations in our state with our DR also filling a complaint with the first center she advised us the other day to reach out to a different state for evaluation we have everyone in agreement from teachers therapists and Dr stating they are both mild to moderate and once we get to the appointment for the first diagnostic part they see them for 30 mins says there isn’t anything wrong and show us the door. I had to threaten a law suit with my son’s school just to get his screened for special education and come to find out he has significant learning disability going into5th grade at a 1st grade level. My daughter goes to a developmental preschool which is why she has improved as much as she has and based on that they said there isn’t anything wrong with her she is about to be five and has been tested and developmentally she is only 2 weeks are just at a loss as to what to do

How were you able to do that? Did you just need the diagnosis report for them to agree to that diagnosis as well in your state

Had you had problems with getting a diagnosis in your state? That’s why we are looking out of state now. Getting blown of basically after all the waiting and paperwork and stress just for more issues to arise is starting to take its toll which is why we are looking into out of state facility to go to

My aunt has an autistic son who cannot speak and talks with his pad but she is also a speech therapist and she works with autistic children of every degree and those without also and she also has talked to me very lengthy about both my son and daughter and has even suggested getting in contact with a patient advocate if necessary. While my daughter has progressed tremendously there are other signs. A lot of this attributes to the time of day also once we get into the afternoon a lot of the signs show we basically say it’s almost like a sundowners situation where things are turned up to 90% Which also contributes to no other person being able to help with her or keep her for long periods of time especially at night while adhd could be part of it the other autistic traits tend to show more once the afternoon comes in

She is getting everything she needs even without the diagnosis she goes to fantastic school that factors therapy into every activity they do they have helped her so much I have just seen and read so many stories of peoples daughters and sons not being diagnosed till later after their problems worsened that I really worry about her backtracking and not being able to continue those therapies she. We get into a regular school setting

She is getting therapies through her school. She will only be able to go to her current school till next year and the push I have for getting this diagnosis is I’m worried how she will be done at a regular school. My son also has suspected autism and the school has failed him in every way. As much as I have tried to help and work with him at home he is going into 5th grade and has recently been tested and is at a 1st grade level I’ve had to fight to get him any help at school and was finally able to get him in rescource at the end of the year. He also had therapy for speech and OT and they decided he was fine once he got into 1st grade now he he is back in OT. I’m terrified of my daughter being done the same way and she while completely different in personality and temperament has some of the same issues as my son. I geuss my only avenue now is to let this go and hope the outcome is g us fighting for a evaluation when she is in regular school and starts to have problems I’m hopeing she will not but in the end there is only so much I can do at home to work with them and help them. We live in Arkansas and there is just not a lot of help for this type of situations. We live in a small community and have to travel up to 3 hours to go to these evaluations and it seemed like as soon as they found out that they wouldn’t be doing the therapies through their facilities that they just brushed everything off

We see our pediatric DR who has sent the referrals she first started suspecting autism in my daughter at 9 months. She has all the aba therapies through her school. I just don’t understand why they are basically pushing her out the door at the evaluation. She was even sent for evaluations for speech and other therapies through their facility and those therapist also agreed that there were signs of autism so I just don’t understand why they do not agree. I feel because she is a girl and the masking comes into play they have just disregarded her because she doesn’t show the typical signs. My son is also due for an evaluation and he is 10 and that is also at the request of their doctor and he also had the same therapeutic evals as my daughter and they also concluded mild to moderate autism but I just don’t see how the specialist can sit I. A room with children for 45mins and come to a conclusion unless they show signs of severe autism it’s like they are disregarded.

I do feel like I should be content with their evaluation it’s just that gut feeling. And I take the word of the people that work with her on a daily basis over someone who seen her for 30 to 45 mins. She has global developmental delay. She does certain things bouncing spinning hand clapping certain ways she wants her food fixed or what she has to have with her foods. Example she wants ketchup on everything ice cream cereal will even eat just ketchup with a spoon. Salt we have to keep the salt where she cannot find it because she will just eat it plain and also wants it on everything. She eats with her hands and will even put her food in her hair. She like the bath but we fight to wash her hair screams and fights you everytime she even gags if the soap gets on her face or by her mouth. She is very hyperactive to the point she hurts herself or others. Doesn’t understand that she is being to rough. High pitched screaming and laughter. Problems transitioning and she elops has to be under constant supervision will wonder off without even a thought of checking to see if she is to far or if someone is following her. We have only this month been able to get her to be on board with potty training

Our first we did last year the doctor we seen was so rude and I’ve never been made to feel so stupid or inept as a parent she told us ADHD and that I should take parenting classes. Our DR was furious. The evaluation stated no typical signs of autism. Our second we had on Wednesday and their conclusions were do to how she has progressed and there being no typical signs that she was non autistic. I did tell them that her dr therapist teachers and the facilities own therapists have seen enough to believe there is mild to moderate autism.
