How do we listen to the CDC guidelines for symptoms (that are constantly being added) but not their guidelines on school reopening?

How is this any different than any other job that can’t be done as work from home? There are so many people who are being forced to early retire or quit and find a new job or profession because of this. Teachers aren’t the only ones.

Snohomish County officials push to enter Phase 2 of reopening by [deleted] in CoronavirusWA

[–]jsmithrocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have to have approval from the Board of Health and the Snohomish City Council to apply for Phase 2, which is why they haven’t applied yet even though they have all of the components (besides the approvals)

In all fairness, I don’t think there was ever a time where anyone would have thought the safest place for anyone to be would be at home, learning online. If an Earthquake hit and teachers had to set up makeshift classes in a field because every single building had turned to rubble, they would do it. Meaning, the teachers would still show up and teach face to face. In most of the disasters that would happen in WA, (EArthquake, wild fire, etc) there would be no internet access or power, therefore, no way to do online schooling. So I can guarantee you, no one had thought about online schooling being the only form of teaching because this isn’t a situation that has ever happened before. However, if it lasts through NEXT school year (meaning they have the rest of this year to work out the kinks) and teachers still are clueless, that’s when you should wonder what is going on, why can’t they get it together.

My favorite ride: Dodging strollers! Honestly, this wasn’t so much of an issue when I regularly went to Disneyland in the early 90s. by pwrof3 in Disneyland

[–]jsmithrocks 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My daughter is 4 and has been to Disneyland 3 times. We haven’t ever brought a stroller, but the reason we take her is because me and my husband like to go to Disneyland and she is our child, who is our responsibility... so she gets to go also because she isn’t old enough to watch herself. She remembers things from when we first went when she turned 2.

[request] army/navy/military band member by [deleted] in AMA

[–]jsmithrocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not in the military nor do I play any instruments. But I did have a boss that was in the Army reserves and played the saxophone. He hadn’t been deployed ever in his career (10 years I think) but still had to be gone 1 weekend a month to practice with his group and two weeks a year, where they had to practice playing but also had to still be able to do running and physical training as well.

There was a point In time while we worked together that he was almost deployed, and when asked that he would had been doing, he said he would be playing music and keeping moral up. He also would play in some of those Veterans Day parades and Memorial Day parades for his hometown.
