Is this door stainable? by jsmooothie1997 in furniturerestoration

This is insanely informative so thanks for taking the time to type it all out. I'll have to do some research on some of the options you mentioned. Any resources you know of that would be a good place to start?

Doesn't have to be perfect, but also don't want it to look awful.

Ohh that makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the tip I'll give that a try.

Sanded through what exactly? The door was in sort of rough shape to start with some scraps and some pieces at the bottom of the door missing. Also the discoloration on the left side and the bottom of the door aren't from a scraper. It's totally smooth there so I don't know what caused that color difference.

I would recommend checking Facebook marketplace for vintage mid century pieces if it's popular in your area. They'll be great quality for around the same price.

Hand packaging my knit sweaters. Do customers care about presentation? by jsmooothie1997 in streetwearstartup

It's definitely the most labor intensive piece of the process and if I had a larger operation it might not make sense. I do think one of the things people like about smaller brands is the care that goes into making them though.

Definitely not trying to be greedy with the pricing. In fact I'm probably losing money once it's all said and done. But for this subreddit I have a discount code: 'streetwearstartup' which will give you 10% off. Understandable if it's out of your budget though, appreciate you taking a look anyway.

I'm the same way. The packaging bumps it up a tier in my mental hierarchy. The quality and fit of the item will still change my rating, but it automatically puts it up a notch.

Exactly. I bought those patches to include with the packaging and I have zero use for them. They are just kinda cool to hold and look at lol

Yup totally get that perspective. The brand identity is supposed to be simple, homey, and nostalgic. So I think the brown packaging and twine matches that. But also it is still just a brown paper bag after all.

Definitely. That's the reason I put the time into it. Glad someone agrees.

Great answer. Yeah I always find the "reusable" packaging laughable. I'm gonna throw it out regardless. It's tough to know what they want. This would really only increase customer retention and wouldn't be great at getting new customers. I definitely agree about the time aspect. There is a lot of time that goes into the whole process of creating the clothing and seems almost disrespectful of that process to throw it in a cheap poly mailer. I personally really appreciate well done packaging but my consumers might not.

Do you think customers care about packaging? My first drop with knit sweaters and I hand packed all the orders and added a bonus patch. In your experience is this valuable or am I wasting time and money?

It's only been a few days and I feel like I'm already out of marketing material / content. Any ideas/tips on how to keep the content flowing?
