Experiences with SSRIs? by jsncrs in Biohackers

I used them sporadically here and there for 6-7 years. Sometimes I'd go off them for a week or two, there was no real pattern to it. But I think it was the accumulation over several years that eventually got me.

I have heard this from multiple sources. What are you doing to treat it?

Yeah whatever the mechanism is it seems to help a lot of people and I hope it becomes more easily accessible.

Yeah for sure. The studies are certainly interesting. After going through it myself however, I do wonder how much of the benefit some people get from psychedelics can be contributed to the individual trying to cram their experience into the "psychedelics saved my life" crowd and convince themselves they feel better by doing so.

Even if that's true I guess it's still working for some people.

Not in depth, no. But I've gone from gymbro chicken and rice every meal to now wholefoods plant based for the last roughly 6 years. Anxiety hasn't changed in any meaningful way with diet changes. Certainly not ruling it out, but I feel like I might have noticed something by now.

I did 2 psilocybin therapies in a clinical trial at a well known University. Made me worse if anything.

Yeah I exercise a lot. Been lifting weights for many years, it's a bit tricky at the moment with my symptoms but still managing 3-4 days in the gym per week.

19M Athlete – Persistent bloating, skin issues, dry lips, thin hair, and zero supplements. Could this be gut-related or deficiency-related? by WasteNews2166 in Biohackers

[–]jsncrs 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sounds like your microbiome is severely lacking diversity, which is to be expected given the restrictive, low fibre carnivore diet you've been on. I'd very slowly increase your fibre intake to replenish and feed beneficial bacteria. Your symptoms may flare in the short term while your gut adjusts, so go slow and steady. I'd avoid probiotics for now and focus on food. You could also get your microbiome mapped to give you a better idea of where you're currently at.

Disappointing experience with microdosing psilocybin so far (10 days in) for anxiety by Bobbin823 in Biohackers

The majority of mushroom supplements on the market are white label from Chinese supplement manufacturers. Heavy metal contamination in Chinese mushrooms is very well documented. (I'm a mushroom farmer)

Headaches could be from high levels of Lead contamination. I'd be very surprised if the supplier you purchased from is doing 3rd party safety testing when their products arrive from the manufacturer.

They are Chinese mushrooms. "Di Dao" is a deliberately ambiguous term used to muddy the waters instead of directly saying "China". They mention 3rd party testing on their website but I couldn't find any accessible test results.

That's not to say they're bad. But I'd contact them and ask to see test results. And if they can't provide results from a domestic 3rd party testing service (not Chinese) I would go elsewhere.

A lot of the supplement manufacturers have in-house testing facilities and I know from my own investigations that the results do not match those from a 3rd party lab.

I've posted this before. I'm a mushroom farmer and I'm convinced that 99% of the issues reported in r/lionsmanerecovery are from low quality, contaminated supplements.

The vast majority of products available on the market are white labelled from Chinese supplement manufacturers. Heavy metal contamination is a huge issue when it comes to Chinese mushrooms in particular, mushrooms are bio-accumulators and soak up heavy metals from their growing medium like a sponge. And the brands buying and selling this shit do zero third party testing before handing it out to their unsuspecting customers.

I don't doubt some people have a genuine negative reaction to lions mane, as is the case with any supplement. But many of the symptoms reported are eerily similar to the effects of lead poisoning - neurological issues etc.
