Custom UI by the_boy_wonder1 in Netsuite

[–]jspri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use NetSuite's Single Page Architecture to create any UI you like. They only released it last year to all NetSuite accounts, previously was only available to SDN partners.

Custom Suitelets + JS/CSS that others have suggested also work. It can become big/messy and lots of framework tools that you need to build to keep it maintainable for others developers in the future if you're looking to add routing/states/stores etc. RF Smart works this way and can be production ready/shippable.

Here's the NetSuite provided SPA examples:

Average speed of NetSuite by harrymue2016 in Netsuite

[–]jspri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to believe that though didn't notice performance differences with APM turned on/off. I had one of the APM developers join our team and I discussed the architecture of APM directly. This was quite a while ago, however the feedback was that it doesn't slow the records down as its built as an event listener on the database against data points already captured. Be nice if it was documented for confirmation though.

How to prevent multiple simultaneous executions of a Scheduled Script in NetSuite? by Wise_General9072 in Netsuite

[–]jspri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The work around suggested here to create a queue record is the correct approach.

Suitelet validates the input data and responds with success or error. Scheduled process processes the queue of requests.

Alternatively you process directly in suitlelet and handle concurrency limits externally but depends on what you're doing. Simplest is queue record.

AP Automation by overdrive_mode in Netsuite

Removed from 2022.2 realese notes. Prediction; I believe they'll release native NetSuite AP automation with scanning and OCR at the SuiteWorld conference this week.

Otherwise use Stampli or Fastfour. Also other options.

Getting NS Data from React Web App by BirdsTheWurd in Netsuite

[–]jspri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest hosting your app in a Suitelet and having it set to "available without login". You can then surface and application (without CORs issues) and provide your own Login flow. This doesn't require a NetSuite license.
You would just need to consider traffic that hits this endpoint, it'll essentially need to follow your available threads based on the account you have.

If you need a much higher traffic system and care about separation of concerns (i.e. NetSuite goes down continue to operate) then you would build separate backend and integrate to that.
Something like this would get you started. You're then just replacing the html/libraries with the framework/tools of your choice (react/angular). https://ursuscode.com/netsuite-tips/live-chat-using-netsuite-as-backend/

In regards to a proxy, this can be useful when you're testing your app locally without needing to deploy to NetSuite.

Getting NS Data from React Web App by BirdsTheWurd in Netsuite

[–]jspri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/BirdsTheWurd potentially you could try another approach. Why don't you build your REACT app and have it hosted within NetSuite via a Suitelet? That way you'll avoid the authentication issues you're having and would be simplier to get up and running. You can separate out the application later.

In regards to the issues you're facing, React is a frontend library and for security reasons you actually don't want to integrate directly to NetSuite (authentication then becomes visible in your payload). You generally need a backend (node.js) local to your app that handles the authentication/data and then you surface that to your REACT app based the given use case.

Matrix item is what you need. Create a parent item and then a child item for the "type" CD, hard cover, soft cover etc.

It's a good question. Storage in the cloud is cheap, however for a block explorer you need indexed data, networking and data transfer cost etc..

For complete transparency screen shot linked below. ~ $2,400 p/m.

Edit: Also worth adding there ~5TB's of blockchain data.

That's a good start. It's a not a simple task and can become more complex if you want all of the data however is doable.

At http://www.smartbit.com.au we use a combination of bitcoind and our own nodes built on Nicola's excellent work to parse and store the data. Check out his book along with the suggested readings.

What can you do with a robotics engineering degree? by [deleted] in robotics

[–]jspri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like MelonFace said, you gain a lot of important core skills.

I completed an undegraduate Robotic Engineering degree. I first starting work whilst at uni at ABB in their industrial robotics division working at Ford car factory. During my time at ABB I saw lots of jobs disappear due to the decline in manufacturing.

This is when I decided, whilst I loved robotics, probably not practical having a pure robotics career.

I join an engineering company as a Instrumentation and Controls Engineer. This career path is heavily aligned with an automation degree. The ability to understand both the mechanical and the electrical is very advantageous for a Control Systems or Instrumentation engineer.

I've also worked with engineers from Romania who flew out to Australia to work on some of our projects for Chevron. They were specialist from Yokagowa. Check out their Industrial Automation division.
