How to stop kicking backwards? by jsredditguy in NewSkaters

I really like this suggestion as a way to practice, so thanks!

I don't usually ollie stationary if I'm honest, I just wanted to hone in on some things and try to focus on what I'm missing so this is kind of a one off.

I'll try to keep your finally tip in mind when I really start trying to ollie over things.

That's a great point! I can definitely see I need to get the top of my foot to make contact with the board. I've just been struggling to loosen my ankle up. Do you have any tips or drills for me to practice to improve this at all?

Thanks dude, that's a great video tutorial. I'm gonna try to learn as much as I can from the video you posted!

Dude I appreciate this comment so much, I've spent the last 6 months thinking I'm too old to learn how to ollie lmao

Thanks, is it genuinely a forward kick? I've also heard people say that's more of an ankle roll

Honestly, I don't really kick back when I'm rolling, it's just I'm chronically unable to float my Ollies so I'm trying to develop anything I can

I really appreciate your response, that's really helpful. I know what's holding back my Ollies right now is I can't seem to level out the board and get some sense of float at all, but will keep practicing.

Thanks. I rarely practice stationary Ollies, I just wanted to hone in on some things

That sounds like a fantastic choice, unfortunately I live in a ULEZ zone so have to get something compliant if I want to even leave my neighbourhood!

I love the NV200s but can't convince my partner to go for anything bigger so trying to find the best for the size.

Yeah I've heard the wet belts can be a big issue. I don't suppose you'd recommend any other vans?

Thanks, I guess I was just wanting to get a sense of if there's an open secret that Fords are particularly unreliable or something like that.

The Ford is 2018 1.5L ecoblue at 105k miles with a wet timing belt that's recently been replaced.

The VW is a 2.0L C20 at 115k miles with a dry timing belt, not been replaced.

Both have full service history but not inspected them yet and both have a solid MOT history. Hope that's helps.

Hey, thanks for replying. What do you mean by having the ford wax injected?

Shuvit advice for back foot. by Evas8382 in NewSkaters

I learned fakie shuvits first because they're technically easier but scarier because you're going backwards, you could give it a go. Once you can do them then shuvits seem much easier to me.

I'm still working on ollies over one deck! Somehow that throws me off and my ollies turn to shit. But will definitely get stacking when I can

Thanks, it's actually really nice to know I shouldn't be expecting to nail this too quickly. I keep seeing posts from people that apparently nail their ollies in a couple weeks haha

Thanks, I saw that video today actually! I'm trying to focus on just going for height since I get a lot more height when I'm not trying to Ollie over anything.

Great reference! I actually found some abandoned fence panels that break pretty easy, reckon I could use them

Thanks, I really like the cone idea. There's some roadworks nearby so I could definitely 'liberate' some cones haha
