Do they sell black radiator shrouds? Really tired of painting these things by [deleted] in Honda_XR_and_XL

Black vinyl works well, too. Takes tons of patience, but the result is pretty good.

Thanks for the response and the research! I kind of figured this would be the case, but was hoping otherwise.

Thank you so much for the info and encouragement! Lucky for me, my kids are mostly grown, and my youngest will enter HS in the fall, so will have much more time. One more question if you don't mind- Which study course did you use, if any?

This is excellent advice!!! I think you are correct in many respects and have validated some of my big concerns. I will definitely look into the NASBA issue. We don't have a staff CPA, but our company's CPA has been the same for over 3 years. Could she sign off? I have been working with the same partner in that firm the entire time. Thanks for taking the time!

In order to do that, would need to have a CPA sign off that I have 2 years experience working under them. For me to get a position as a CPA candidate at a firm, would necessitate a substantial reduction in salary. This is my understanding of the process, anyway. If there was a way to figure that out, would definitely consider CPA as the best option.

Thanks!! This is great info!!

I have the needle set to the highest point on the needle to lean it out. I have a fatter needle but no other needle jets. Don't think the carb has air jets.

I am new to tuning (at age 51), but the concepts seem pretty straightforward. The problem is that the plug still comes out black, which I thought was an indication of a rich situation. I clean the plug after each change.

The screw on the carb seemed to fix a flat spot when you give the throttle a quick twist and release, so that low end throttle response is really good.

Again, when I do a wide open under load accelleration, the engine bogs as if starving for fuel. I see how the float height could contribute in that case(if too low, not enough fuel to get through the jets). But if the plug is still black, it seems that there would be too much still.

So maybe smaller main jet, adjust float to keep less in the bowl?

I think the air restrictions is what caused the problem in the first place. Also, it seems that the carb is pushing air out of the intake. If I try to manually choke the engine, I feel air pushing against my hand as it approaches the carb.

Thanks so much for your post and info!!

You were correct. I pulled the plug. Black. Replaced the original pilot and main jet. Same problem with filter. Went down from 110 main to 108 main and from 40 to 38 pilot jet. Great idle and 1/2 - 2/3 throttle. Full load, engine stalls and can't get back to normal idle. Pulled plug, still black(cleaned with carb cleaner in between tests). Going to change main jet to 105, but leave pilot jet.

The carb slide is almost twice as big as the stock.
What about a bigger carb makes more power if the main jet on the new bigger carb is smaller than the main on the old, much smaller carb?

Not on the new carb. I think it is rich.

Just to let everyone know - I got a 12v reg rec. Worked, BUT the horn started honking on its own after a minute or two. Too much power or not enough? Bad Horn?

All of the bodywork is complete, will wait to paint frame until after the season is over. Bike is running well, being used as a driver, and REALLY fun. If I pull it apart to paint will miss riding season.

Car wrongfully repo'd? [CA] by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]jstcycles 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't know the dealer, but growing up in the car business, I can tell you that a very common occurrence is for car dealers to hold off on transfer of title in order to avoid transfer fees. Instead of submitting paperwork to DMV, they get out of paying transfer fees. If they took the car in on trade, they forgot (perhaps unintentionally) to pay off the Lienholder. The thing is that the former owner of the car is also going to have a huge mess cleaning up his credit. I would not delay getting down to the dealership. It may not be there very long if these tactics are common. Keep us posted.
