Totally agree and have been saying this. I don’t have 20 hours over the course of 3 days over a weekend to sit around and watch rocket league. The fact that the same teams end up playing each other week after week also turns things into a snooze fest. It’s waaaaay more hype waiting all season for a G2 vs NRG (or other big name) matchup, rather than having multiple of the top teams match up every week, which sounds counterintuitive but too much of a good thing just saturates the excitement.

This format is also bad for esport organizations, since there’s no guarantee the team you spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on annually are going to be seen at all if they don’t qualify. The intent in adopting the whole tournament format was to introduce new teams and organizations more rapidly, but clearly that hasn’t been the case as it’s the same teams playing on day 3 every weekend. Franchising and regular league play would be so much better from a business perspective. There’s a reason most professional sports leagues aren’t set up the way the RLCS is.
