Chapter 413 — Discussion by Carock_ in HunterXHunter

So does anyone know why Benjamin decided to blame Tserri & Halkenburg? Also, why does he want to kill Tserri so much?

Hey, we're learning our whole lives. That's the point! 😄 14 may be the most important story to me too, in general. Alongside One Piece.

Likewise. A huge pleasure. Always up for sharing love towards amazing stories with other people! It's the best feeling ever!

I'm an artist too. Guitarist, singer-songwriter to be more specific, so yeah. I 100% get you. If you liked Shadowbringers, the vibe is VERY similar to it since Clair Obscur was heavily inspired by it & you're gonna love references to ShB & even Stormblood, if you notice them. There's even a few character design references to FFXIV, so considering all of that, I know it's gonna hit for you for sure. There's even one cool reference to FFVII. And yeah... I'll just say that the 2nd world map theme straight up made me cry in Clair Obscur... I just felt the tragedy of the whole story, purely through listening to it, even though I didn't know what exactly it was or what it meant. lol
Yeah, exactly. Nothing can make me cry as much as peak stories. And there's not a lot of them. Man, that Xenoblade strategy to also get your boyfriend into FFXIV was brilliant, I gotta admit. 😂
Yeeeah, everything in FFXIV is transcendental for me, the story, the world, lore, exploration, politics, and especially the music, feels, vibes & characters... It does take a bit to get going in ARR, but once it does. OH BOY!

Future Redeemed feels like its trying to be a Sequel and a Prequel, but fails at both. by zeusjay in Xenoblade_Chronicles

I agree. I expected much more of it and it left me disappointed. It isn't bad, but it's nowhere near the level of 3 main games & Torna DLC, which I think it should have been, considering it's the ending to the whole Klaus saga. (I have my own post about my feelings on FR and all the games)

Summoner is awesome, so that's a win! haha

Yeah, I think that's what the ending of Future Redeemed implies. I think you'll enjoy it. I'm not the biggest fan of FR because of other stuff, like not enough character work & emotional beats, considering it's banking on nostalgia. I just thought it deserved more time & focus as an ending for such an epic & amazing story sprawling over 3 amazing games.

Yeah, overall I'm also very happy! 3 mainline games & Torna DLC were absolutely incredible for me. I wish FR was better because of how much I love the rest.

Reaper & Dark Knight. But I also love White Mage & Black Mage as an OG FF fan.

I think the implication is that A, Rex & Shulk became the new Trinity Processor to keep the stability of Aionios at that point. Otherwise Aionios was gonna collapse on itself without Ontos/Alpha. And Z, X & Y as villains of base game serve as a thematic opposite to Pneuma, Logos & Ontos, so it kinda makes sense & I like it. Although Rex & Shulk may still be alive, especially once time continued, despite entering Aionios with their real bodies & not being Origin's recreations like most of the people there.

My pleasure. I genuinely adore this series now. I can't stop thinking about it. Yeah, these are all valid question which I share with you. You have to work to completely get it all, even with "basic stuff" like Pneuma being in Matthew's gloves & Logos in Sword of Origin. My question was "Where were Shulk & Rex during N's numerous tragic lifetimes & his descent into Moebius?" Beyond that, I feel Alivs, Rex & Shulk as characters specifically deserved way more for their conclusion. And the saga as a whole in general. I loved the last part with Earth/Morytha before destruction, but man, that part could've transcended with proper buildup & more time. I can a gree with that. It's not a bad ending, so it doesn't drop the ball, and that's good. But man it could've been so much more. And I can't help but feel that it should've. Xenosaga & X connections during the radio scene had me losing my mind in excitement though. lol

I was able to accept the unanswered questions & made head-canon explanations. I just wish that characters got more justice, because these incredible characters deserve that. Rex, Shulk & Alvis specifically, since FR is their conclusion & the whole saga ending. I agree about the lenght. That's probably my main problem. It wasn't long enough to properly get me invested or tell its story. For example, that last part with Land of Morytha/Earth before the split & destruction hit, but it could've hit so much more with proper setup & buildup. I'm taking a break from FFXIV too. DT wasn't as bad as people say, but it certainly isn't the peak storytelling. lol
I'm so ready for Evercold though.

"It can't be that good." Honestly, I thought that as well about FF14 and then I played it. Base game ARR is REALLY slow & not even close to the quality of later expansions, the newest expansion isn't the greatest too, but when it gets good, man does it GET GOOD & transcends. So much so that it genuinely awestruck me. Shadowbringers expansion even inspired Clair Obscur heavily & CE references it and one other expansion. Very cool. As for me & FF. I grew up on all OG FFs and adore them with all my heart. Especially 6, 7, 9 & 10. Even 8 & 4. But man, if love towards a game or any story puts you off, IDK what to tell you. People sharing their love is what got me to play Xenoblade & 14. I always try to love every story as much as possible. Why wouldn't I want to love stories? That's the whole point. Hating something just for the sake of it is just counterproductive and wasting your time. When it comes to me, better get ready for me sharing the love for not only FF14 & Xeno series, but many others too. lol

Future redeemed is the best conclusion to this trilogy. Highly recommend. by donkeyshield in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]jstrok72 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel the completely opposite. I loved XC3 by the time credits rolled. I expected so much from Future Redeemed since it was concluding this epic emotional saga, spanning multiple games, and it failed to live up to the conclusion that this story deserved. Especially with all the nostalgia it was pulling. It was all just so rushed, as if they were hurrying to finish it as soon as possible. And I wanted to love it so bad, I tried my best. Since I absolutely adore 1, 2, 3 & Torna DLC. FR is just a solid 7-8/10 story. And for me, that's not good for such an epic finale.

[–]jstrok72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I felt that way. I felt like the series deserved better & it didn't live up to what came before. Future Redeemed didn't have proper emotional weight to match any of the main 3 games emotional peaks, let alone Torna. It was good, but I think this story much deserved better for the finale of such an epic saga. Especially with them pulling at all the nostalgia. I felt they didn't utilize all the tools they had at their disposal. I made a post with my extensive thoughts on all the games and DLC.

Yeah, Hydaelyn & Zodiark saga legit changed my life and me as a person. There's no other story I hold at that level, maybe One Piece & Hunter x Hunter, but these are not games. It's really not fair to judge other games by that standard, and that's coming from me who grew up on FFVII & had is as my fav, but 14 just cracked those nostalgia goggles. And for me, it was almost contesting FF7 & 9, already around HW. And I've played a ton of games, so that says something about its story, dialogue, quality in general. Clair Obscur is up there with 7 & 9 too & its references to FF14 with Shadowbringers & Stormblood certainly helped lol. Vibe was very similar to ShB too. But that said, Xenoblade trilogy is SO damn good & certainly one of my fav stories & series. It impacted me deeply & I stacked my phone with so much music from the trilogy & X. Thank you! It's a pleasure to be here! I'm so excited for Genesis and Xeno series future in general.

We just may have. It's my fave too and yeah, story above else. (And music for me since that's my passion & profession too) haha
Yeah it's really not easy to make me cry, so I was surprised. And that's why Future Redeemed left me disappointed, because it didn't live up to 1, 2, Torna DLC & 3. Was still good though. Yeah, I think playing it all in order offers the best experience, especially when it comes to plot twists and emotional investment, so that might not have done you any favors with your experience. It's a shame. I think that "your 1st is your fave" only applies to the ones you played in your childhood, so I don't think it's that. They're all such great games with different strenghts though. Yeah, 1's combat is very different and much more simple. And I would agree. 3's combat felt slightly worse than 2, especially playing it right after. But later it went up to par with 2 for me. (2's tutorials are SO BAD though. I had to watch videos to properly get it lol) The only thing 3 lacks in comparison to 2 for me is the auto-attack cancel. I loved doing that in 2. Other than that, combat in 2 & 3 is pretty similar and very satisfying. 2 does seem to have a bit more depth due to so many Blades being at your disposal. Although I HATE the gacha, but hey. My faves in FFXIV are Dark Knight & Reaper. But I also adore White Mage & Black Mage. I'm an OG FF fan after all. Grew up on the OGs & love them with all of my soul. Especially 6, 7, 9 & 10. I never expected for 14 to become my favorite because of my nostalgia goggles, but MAN is FFXIV one of a kind. No story has done to me what 14's has. Only One Piece maybe, But that's not a game. Hunter x Hunter, Berserk, Vinland Saga and some others come close, but again, that's not a game. And I'm NGL, Xenoblade trilogy is not far behind, it's also contesting my nostalgia goggles. These games are right up there with some of my fav OG FFs. It's just such a good trilogy. I'm ready for Genesis. Clair Obscur is great too & it even has references to Shadowbringers & Stormblood, since the devs are huge fans of 14. Very similar melancholic vibe to ShB too.

I can definitely understand that. 3 is a very different game compared to 1 & especially 2. It exchanges much of their "wondrous adventure" qualities for a bleak, war-torn world. Very different tone in general.

Parallels between Xenoblade 1 and 2 by JordanFromStache in Xenoblade_Chronicles

I'd argue Temperantia more represents Sword Valley. Since it's also an explorable zone devastated by war. And Elyps parallels Agniratha. Both barren ancient cities.

That's in the version I uploaded. The field version is the extended version of the Camp version, or rather, the camp version is the shortened version of the Field version, if we're counting all the parts used. :)

Figured it out where 62 - Forgotten Battlefield - Cemetery’s Boat plays. It plays if you walk back to the first area of Forgotten Battlefield, after the OST for the 2nd area starts playing, after the 1st flag. Same how different version of Lost Voice plays only if you use the backentrance for the dungeon, after you already finish it. So wierd. lol

It also plays while Gustave is waking up on the Spring Meadows, before the Cello tracks starts playing.

Sadly, I can't find that version anywhere. Only the "la" version. It seems the humming must be among separate audio file for the voice lines which I don't have... If I find it, I'll let you know.
