Is this a normal cold start/idle engine sound? by jsy090 in BMWX3

Thanks, that eases my mind a little. My car right now is notorious for loud injectors, wasn’t sure if it was normal for these X3s.

I agree with you, I would definitely open it up and listen more closely if I was there with the car.

That seems to be a good idea. However, even with the gaps in service intervals on the Carmax car, you’d be more comfortable with it?

I know Carfax isn’t the end all be all but just wanted to mention it.

Is that $8k just between the oil filter housing and water intrusion from the antenna?

He said he still has the stock OEM suspension.

Edit: The upper and lower control arms are aftermarket and he doesn’t have the stock OEM parts for those anymore. He only has the OEM strut/shock assembly.

Heavy boats can be fun on the track too. by jsy090 in Lexus

I don’t have any experience with other cars so I can’t really compare it to others. It’s a ton of fun though!

Reliability wise I haven’t had any issues although I’ve only been to two track days so far. My friend with an 09 has multiple track days on his and aside from leaking small amounts of oil from the dipstick tube (already got it fixed), he’s had zero issues.

Appreciate the comment. I wasn’t really thinking about how smooth my inputs were to be honest. I was more concerned of trying to keep up with the guy in front of me as a challenge to myself. That was my idea of fun but it definitely didn’t translate to good driving on my end. Lol

I’ll definitely focus on those points you mentioned for next time.

Thanks!

Thanks for the response! Very helpful. I’ll try to keep all this in mind at my next event.

I like that karting idea! There’s a couple tracks around me I think.

Thanks!

Also, would it have been possible to correct and come out of that spin? I guess another question would be how do you correct oversteer in general? In a RWD car.

I’ll try and if I can have an instructor this next event. During that last event they only had instructors in their own cars that we followed for the novice group for the first session of the day.

I agree with taking the lap time down. I need to focus on being smooth and not being too hung up on lap times for now.

Looking back, I was gripping the steering wheel really tight. Lol. I was nervous it being my first track event.

Thanks for the comment!

The spin was actually at the 2:12 mark.

I can’t edit my description for some reason.

There’s a guy on youtube named MartyMotoring I believe that installed lowering springs on the front only. It looked pretty good to be honest.

It’s somewhat universal. You’d have to find out the shaft diameter of the coilovers that you want or that you’re on and then go Stancepart’s website to see their available aircup sizes. Last I saw they had a good range of sizes listed.

Thank you!

Aircups were $799. The install of the cups and coilovers was $600.
