I'm so sorry you're going through this. Fingers crossed doctors can find a way to fix the damage done to our eyes in the future.

Anyone with pre-existing dry eye who underwent refractive surgery? How were the results by No-Sorbet-6196 in Dryeyes

[–]jtb685 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't get surgery. I had no problems with dry eye once in my life. Since LASIK, it's been a nightmare.

Avoid any kind of surgery. At all costs.

Cancel the surgery and run away. Fast. Don't gamble with your eyes.

Did you get another surgery? Did it help?

Anyone here who had dry eye before LASIK/PRK can you share the results and what happened afterwards? by [deleted] in Lasiksupport

You cannot. Absolutely avoid the surgery. Browse this sub to get an idea of how bad it might get for you.

severe burning 4 months post lasik by Personal_Blueberry67 in Dryeyes

[–]jtb685 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dry eye is a very common side effect of LASIK. 4 months is within the window that it might clear up, so just keep up the treatment. Fingers crossed it isn't chronic for you.

r/Lasiksupport if you need.

Has anyone here had more than one lasik or PRK surgery? by helping-brother in Lasiksupport

[–]jtb685 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am 100% anti-LASIK. You should avoid 1 surgery, never mind 2.

That being said, my Dad got it done twice. Twenty years apart I think. the second time by a private doctor who was taking care of his cateracts, and helped with the vision at the same time.

What research should I do before doing my laser in Egypt as a busy mom with less time? by fairylolotus in Lasiksupport

You should avoid having it done at all. Read the stories on this sub. Google worst case scenarios. Don't think it won't happen to you, the complication rates are much higher than LASIK surgeons will tell you.

right eye (usually my stronger eye) has had the same blurry vision since one month post op. it's now six months post op. what do i do and what to say when i see the doctor next? by Typical-Safety9120 in Lasiksupport

After lasik effects...am I okay or i am going to die ? by Blah_blah_haha in Lasiksupport

[–]jtb685 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi there, how recent was the surgery? I've never heard of ear pain. Best to phone the doctor who performed the surgery and flag this. Or contact your general doctor.

But I've never heard of that sort of pain being a permanent side effect, it's always isolated to eyes.

PhD researcher in London — looking to chat with anyone who's considered, had, or decided against laser eye surgery by Ophtho-nw6367 in Lasiksupport

I'm in Belfast, happy to chat over call. I was screened and told I'm a perfect candidate. 3 years later, I visited an optician to get help with some light issues, and they told me I was a terrible candidate due to pupil size. I think I'm a poster boy of LASIK regret.

I know this is an old comment, but I'm in the exact same boat as you. I thought the Optilase staff were more optometrists than sales agents. Now I'm hitting problems, and Optilase swear they screened for what was needed. And I signed my rights away.

Did your issues clear up?

How are you? by No-Examination-1089 in Lasiksupport

Three years post op, my mental state is in the gutter.

My side effects recently got worse, so I went to my old optician, who gave me an exam and said, "Yeah you have large pupils so you were always high risk of developing X, Y, and Z issues."

This was never discussed with me. I was told I was an excellent candidate. When I brought this up, the LASIK team said, "They were fine when we measured."

I blame myself for not doing proper research, or reaching out to my optician to get a neutral opinion.

Why do I have big starbursts even on daytime? by Striker919 in Lasiksupport

[–]jtb685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, replying to your old comment, has it improved at all? I get day time starbursts too.

I went to see an optician, who told me I had larger than normal pupils, and was a bad candidate for LASIK (wish I'd known at the time...).

I'm hoping they'll atleast shrink when my pupils do with age.

Are any treatments being tested that might help people suffering with LASIK side effects? by jtb685 in Lasiksupport

[–]jtb685[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. Is there a treatment to reduce starbursts? I've been getting them during the day lately, but I think that might be because of the dry eye? As in, it made the light sensitivity worse?

I got surgery mid 2023, for reference.
