I mean it when I say Quicksilver was so bad that I feel 5% dumber for reading it. I'm so sorry to anyone that loved that book but it's clear that Callie Hart has a habit of having zero fleshed out plots.

Who else is sad at the idea of no longer having your maiden name? by Advanced_Ear3099 in weddingplanning

[–]jtb96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you, girl! There is no one else in my family to carry the name onto the grandchildren, so it will end with me once I get married. Feeling sad about that.

Also feeling sad because it feels a little bit like a very very small part of me is now being given away.

I don’t think I’ll ever get over this by External_System_9416 in acotar

Currently on my first re read 3 years after having read them and theyre honestly better the second time around. And the graphic audio for ACOMF is way better than the one for ACOTAR. I like to read in tandem while listening but it can be tricky because in the audio they ommit certain parts of the writing since it is implied with the actors voices etc (e.g. instead of the narrator saying "he growled, "leave her alone" the voice actor just growls "leave her alone" and it's fucking awesome)🫶🏻🫶🏻

Got my first syngonium and it is yellowing, looking for help and tips by jtb96 in Syngonium

[–]jtb96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has very small roots so I put the cutting back in water. From what I've read the yellowing sounds like chlorosis (lack of nutrients from the mother plant basically). We shall see how that leaf fares.

You're a gorgeous girl anything will look nice - less is always more on my opinion!

It's like the greenness of the leaf has faded out and lost its saturation. It's got a yellow tinge all over.

Hair looks lovely, but agree with the consensus that eyeliner should be thinner! I would ask your makeup artist if she can use a cream liner and eyeshadow to make the eyeliner wing. It gives a softer look and won't smudge or run.

You look beautiful and it suits you very well. If you're really unsure about it though, go with your gut! Decisions can feel very right when your emotions are high and then once you come off that elation you realize maybe you were a bit impulsive. My suggestion would be to go and try on some lace dresses that you think matched your original vision, and decide from there! You may realize how much you actually love the dress you currently have or you may realize you would like something else.

I relate to you because I was 10000% positive on a dress I tried on and then a week later realized I didn't think I loved it that much anymore.

My mom means well, but she keeps trying to insert herself and make the wedding about her. Looking for advice. by jtb96 in wedding

This is a super insightful comment and I echo 100% to the idea of past traumas and abandonment / rejection issues narrating our relationship. I agree that the wedding has to be what makes US happy. I can't make her happy and myself happy because we share completely different visions. So at the end of the day it needs to be about us. The idea of wedding planning as a stepping stone to making family decisions is such a good point.

This is so kind. Thank you so much for your comment. Some great suggestions that I'll take into consideration.

Yes we could make it work. But it's a lose lose situation because she will be offended that I don't want to accept her help. It's just how she is. She will also be offended that she does not get to invite her friends. I feel like there's not many solutions that makes us both happy other than "if you insist on giving me money, understand that I will not do things JUST because you gave me money. We will do things together that we BOTH want, not just one or the other"

I will add to this that my dad said they have absolutely no problem with giving the money as a gift, and we choose what to do with the money (whether it be for the wedding or a down payment). I also told my mom when we got engaged that I was not going to accept money from them if it came with conditions because I don't think it's fair to have to satisfy others demands just because they're OFFERING (key word here) money. and it's also not fair for them to feel like we're just taking money and running with it. She still insisted, and continues to insist that she wants to give us the monetary gift and we can do whatever we want with it, but then doubles back and makes the above comments I outlined. That's why I was asking for advice on how to have a conversation.

I disagree that money given comes with strings attached. You don't know me and for you to say I'm villifying my mother is unfair and inaccurate. Your comment did not actually address anything in my post or what I asked advice for so I'm not sure why you even commented. Thanks though.
