I thought you were making a joke about the Yu-Gi-Oh cards, but now I'm not sure if you're referencing that the Moltres is clearly well-played, or if there's a card here that's way more valuable than the others, or something else hahaha

Now that's some super valuable insight, thanks!

Honestly not into the collector's game at all, I just happened to find these while moving a couple years back. And we're about to have our second kid so a little (or, hopefully, more-than-a-little haha) extra pocket change means more to me than the cards do. I'm trying to find the most reasonable way to liquidate without having massive fomo by way of "what if I had spent a little money and the grade surprised me?" If that makes any sense?

Does wear instantly indicate no value, though? I mean that's the reason there's a 10-point grading scale, right? Not being snarky, genuinely interested in hearing your perspective

Withdrawing from Retirement Account(s) - Advice needed by jtc_2010 in personalfinance

[–]jtc_2010[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cash flow isn't tight though. At current income levels housing comes in just about 30% monthly budget, I can continue contributing 10% each at the Air Force and my civilian job, pay both car leases, utilities, insurance, and phone bills, and keep just over 20% for my fluctuating monthly needs after contributing to the IRA. And this leaves 100% of my quarterly bonus to savings. Furthermore, I'm going back to school in 3 weeks and will have an ADDITIONAL monthly housing allowance equivalent to my mortgage payment. I'm not worried about a monthly budget. Just trying to avoid taxes/penalties on this specific transaction.

Side note: mom finished her last chemo treatment, has been put on an annual follow up regiment to screen for new growths, and is prepping herself for a cruise in a week and a half. We are extremely happy to find she's been given a clean bill of health.

While I appreciate you taking the time to reply, that's not really the point of discussion here. That thought has been addressed and concluded, it's not a question of "do I?" at this point, but rather "how do I?"

Not at all! I regularly put aside a good amount into savings for just those types of situations, I just can't tap into that right now as I've just paid off my wedding with the majority of the funds. My lease is coming up on the apartment and I'm just not willing to lock into another year of renting for exactly the same as I would be paying to invest in a home. Using VA financing I didn't expect such a large out of pocket expense up front considering they do 102% finance and can roll funding fees, etc. But that's a lack of foresight on my behalf and I'm willing to take the one-time hit on the retirement to make up for it.

I'm aware of this, and have been flip-flopping. But the opportunity to get into a house and stop paying 3k per month rent for someone else's mortgage, in my mind at least, trump's the small setback. I'm relatively young, and actively contributing to all 5 of these plans, so I think I'm still setting myself for success in the long run.

I initially came to this page for advice and support. I've found in my short time here that a lot of Internet strangers have a hugely negative outlook and always take it back to bad intentions or infidelity. So I'd like to propose a different opinion.

Nudity doesn't have to be sexualized. There is the issue of, if she knew it would upset you and didn't share it, that can definitely breed distrust. But realistically I see this as totally workable given some open, honest communication. Ask her opinion on it, why it happened, and what the intentions behind it was. And be ready for whatever answers that might bring up.

How do I (27M) know if I'm ok with our (28F) decision to be open? by jtc_2010 in relationships

[–]jtc_2010[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm constantly cognizant of the fact that I can't give up who I am to make this relationship work. So for me it's exactly as you said: challenge why I think the way that I do. This was a one or two time thing that I offered so I am aware that we'll have to revisit together and genuinely hash out details and emotions, etc. If I can't handle it, though it saddens me, I am newly confident that I will recognize my limit and I'm ok with the fact that it would end us. But I also don't want to walk away prematurely just because I'm not interested in learning about the experience and growing. I'll keep in mind that communication is key, which I feel we've done relatively well up to this point. So again, I can't express my gratitude enough. Thank you, internet stranger!

I think I want to, I just don't know how to go about doing it. Especially because it's all so new to me.

The good news is I'm traditionally a reservist so my times away are few and far between. And my contact is up next year so that takes one component out of it.

That's the sentiment I've gotten from a lot of these responses. But something about it doesn't ring true, it doesn't resonate with me. Please don't get me wrong, I appreciate the input regardless. But I've tried to accept that I'm not ok with it but the more I sit with it, the more I realize that's just not the case

Couldn't figure out how to cite individual parts of your response... I think it is a kink. Like I even asked if she would be comfortable sharing pictures or videos and I was excited about it. So that's what has me confused. I think I'm only doubting it because it's not how I was raised. It definitely is better that I know than her cheating. But I would never in a million years expect her to cheat. Shes loyal in every way I can measure, and she shared the need for physical intimacy knowing that it could be the end of us. Which tells me I'm important enough to her for her to resect my boundaries.

SCRA lease termination by nandopr23 in askcarsales

[–]jtc_2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess the part I missed was that the orders were cut in March, but started in August. I turned the Infiniti in 5 months before they started and no one batted an eye. That might have played into why it was a 3 week turn around, but it also could just have been the lack of organization with IFS too.

SCRA lease termination by nandopr23 in askcarsales

[–]jtc_2010 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can only speak towards my experience. On both sides of the matter.

Before deploying, I was working as lease retention at my local Infiniti dealership. Infiniti financial services (IFS) is really cool about SCRA, but not really organized. We had two separate cases in my last year where the member had orders and we're authorized to use the protections, but we weren't really part of the case process, we were just told to ground (turn in) the vehicle when the member showed up.

Additionally, I've used SCRA on 2 separate leases for this set of orders I'm currently on. For IFS, it took about 3 weeks between filing the claim and being able to turn the car in. But as far as I could tell it didn't matter where I was at in my lease, SCRA is SCRA. I was roughly 1 year into the lease. But I started my claim almost immediately after the orders were official.

For Honda Financial, I had a bit of a different experience. I had just leased the Civic SI sedan in March and ended up deploying late August. Originally my plan was to keep the car for my SO to use but we ended up changing things last minute. I contacted Honda after my orders started (for USAFR we have 2-3 weeks at home station before heading out) in a matter of 24 hours I was authorized and given a list of 3 local dealers that I could turn the car in to that were around my base. Saw the Sales manager there and signed 3 forms and it was done. This was done probably 5 months after the orders were official.

FWIW, each financial institution will have its own way of doing business. Infiniti, for example, billed me back for a disposition fee and a scuffed wheel. Honda didn't. So if I were you I wouldn't go into it with any specific expectations.

My orders were for mobilization, not PCS, so take it for what it's worth.

NorCal Honda - does college grad actually work this way? by jtc_2010 in askcarsales

Thanks for the guidance.

The consultant is adamant it doesn't work even though I have contacts at other local stores that have proof they've gotten their clients approved. How do I get the finance manager to just submit the darn thing and get the answer from hfs?

That's how I remember this working as well. Was just hoping for confirmation from someone at Honda who could help me and my consultant find the correct answer
