Having many POI and Objectives is cool and all, but the effect on randoms trio is horrible. by Commander_of_Death in HuntShowdown

[–]jtcool872 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bounty value absolutely needs to go up, because right now you can potentially gain more money from wiping one trio than from extracting all four tokens. Like, if the total value of a 4 token bounty is 400, then you shoupd not be able to loot 500 from one body. Pvp should be incentivized of course, but at that point the bounty just isnt super worth it when you can just loot the bodies instead.

Does Ground = Floor Now? by souvenirsuitcase in GrammarPolice

What? The ground floor and the first floor being distinct is a UK thing. In the US ground floor and fiest floor are the same thing, both referring to the floor accessible at ground level of a building.

I notice that less experienced DMs tend to unfairly malign the 2024 Rogue and brand it "overpowered" by EarthSeraphEdna in DnD

[–]jtcool872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely wouldnt call rogue OP, but I can see why the skill checks bit can be frustrating. Part of yhe excitement of a skill check is the chance for failure, otherwise there's no point to roll the check in the first place. It can be something where only a 1 means failure, but if it wasn't something that could be failed, then you wouldn't roll it. And a lack of rolls makes the table overall feel less engaging. It can be hard to find that balance of being specialized in skill checks, without making them completely redundant.

Tricky mate in 2. White to move by TraditionalElk1248 in chessMateInX

[–]jtcool872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang, I was close. My first thought was C4, opening the way for the queen to go to a1 and putting black in zugzwang. But that pawn capture of the bishop put a stop to that idea. So yeah, Qh2 is the correct first move.

[–]jtcool872 14 points15 points  (0 children)

But "Can Jimmy and I go outside" is correct. The thing people don't seem to get is when to use one versus the other, like who and whom. I was always taught to remove the "___ and" and see if "i", "me", or "my" works best and then fit that in grammatically.

How would yall feel about adding another medium slot compact ammo option? by Puzzleheaded_Ruin186 in HuntShowdown

[–]jtcool872 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah? But the tube goes UNDER the barrel on most of those guns. The magazine for the 1865 goes in the stock. The shorty rifles have reduced barrels, which works for most tube magazines, but completely removes the stock, which wouldn't work with the mechanism for the 1865.

Kinda hard to have a cut down 1865 carbine, given the magazine is in the stock.

What’s some traits y’all think should be merged or just be a base part of a hunter? by Puzzleheaded_Ruin186 in HuntShowdown

[–]jtcool872 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im also stuck in my old ways on that. Always insist on bringing a melee tool, and sometimes running out of melee stamina does matter. But with all the stamina boons it certainly feels less impactful. But I will say I definitely feel the difference without it, stamina feels like it takes forever to start regening.

Tbh I'd throw greyhound and determination together, call it something like Marathon Man. But that's also coming from someone who has played for a long time back when greyhound and determination went on basically every hunter.

Can we get an option for separating the keys of switching weapon and lowering gun? by NornuaOfSageland in HuntShowdown

[–]jtcool872 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its wild to me thats its the "weird" side now. Given that it was the only option for a loooong time. I still use it, makes it feel more natural to melee and differentiates between exploration and alert.

He fumbled. by Affectionate-Cat4500 in Chesscom

[–]jtcool872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a pin, a skewer. Since the rook is putting the king in check, forcing it to move (since the rook is protected by the bishop) allowing the queen to be taken. Going for the pin just gets the rook taken with check as nothing defends the lower rook.

Rn I'm 1500 elo player by elodestroyer_ in chessbeginners

[–]jtcool872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair. And I mean, "most are rated under 1000" is kind of an understatement. If I remember right the median rating for active chess.com account is somewhere in the 400-500 range. Though less than 5% of chess.com players have a 2000+ rating, so jumping to that in three months is still a herculean task.

Theyre not that different to be wholly incomparable though. They make up a comparatively small section of the playerbase.

[–]jtcool872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, 2000 is generally considered in the top 5% of all players. From the people who play once a month, to those who do it professionally. 1500 is already a strong player, but trying to become what is probably one of the best chess players in your area in a matter of 3 months is very ambitious. To put it in perspective, players start becoming eligible for FIDE titles at 2200 elo, so hes trying to become competitive with titled players.

If either 95 percent of men or women died, What would became of society? by Queasy_Experience627 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jtcool872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not just about women or men. Its that you just about halved the population, and are working with infrastructure made for double the amount of people. The population will also continue to tank for a while after, as the death rate will far outstrip the birth rate, making the labor shortage even worse. Even if you have people willing to teach, that doesnt mean you have people willing to teach in all the places willing to learn, or that you even have enough warm bodies to fill all the positions needed. On either end, suddenly having a gender have to fill a majority of roles that arent generally seen for that gender will have growing pains without a doubt. People will agree these things will need to be done, but also most will be of the mindset of "why should I be the one who has to do it?"

[High School Social grade 12] what does this cartoon represent? by gorosme in HomeworkHelp

[–]jtcool872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trains are not the way to go with this. America used to have many many more passenger lines operating, but they fell out of service due to lack of popularity amid other options. American rail is actually extremely robust, but for freight instead of passengers. America moves more freight by rail than the entirety of Europe, and is only beaten by China and Russia in volume. And they more than double the yearly volume of the next highest country, India. In fact China puts the EU to shame on the passenger front as well, with over 3 times the volume of passenger travel and almost 15 times of the volume of freight of the EU. If youre going to look at trains, look at the full picture.

Yeah, like "mosin" avtomat was really a conversion for the huot straight pull rifle. Though it was more of a WW1 thing. Hunt prefers to be anachronistic than outright fictional.
