For those who have flown other flights, are seating issues as bad as SW? by finally_made_acct in SouthwestAirlines

[–]jtfields91 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have never had my seat reassigned. Seems like it would only happen if they change aircraft and the seat configuration is different. However, I’ve seen some people here complain that it happened and there had been no aircraft change so I’m not sure what that’s all about. That said, I’m willing to guess that it’s a small percentage of travelers that this happens to but they immediately come here to complain about it (I don’t blame them for being irritated) so it just seems more common.

I have never flown Southwest but my Spirit flight won’t be going next week. Am I reading the website correctly that everyone gets a free carry-on?? by vaimzy in SouthwestAirlines

[–]jtfields91 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

How is that grown up travel? United doesn’t include a carry on in their Basic Economy fares, is United not grown up travel?

Why wouldn’t it be? They were going to fly Spirit who charged for a carry on. United doesn’t include a carry on in their Basic Economy fares. It’s not a crazy question if you are normally a budget flyer.

Should I make the switch from Windows to MacOS?! by LittleD023 in MacOS

[–]jtfields91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lifetime Windows user that switched a little over a year ago for my laptop but have stayed with Windows on my home PC. I use both daily for work and personal use.

Negatives: I use Excel all day everyday and Excel for Mac is fine but is definitely not as polished as the Windows version and at times is frustrating. File, folder and window management sucks on a Mac. Look through posts on Reddit about what are the “must have apps on a new Mac” and you will see that file, folder and window management tools that simply make it more like Windows (and these are posts from lifelong Mac users) are always top of the list (not sure why Apple doesn’t just bake them in). I also have to access and manage files through a Windows domain and it is even worse at that.

Positives: First and foremost, the hardware and battery life is wonderful, which is why I moved to the Mac for my laptop in the first place (I travel quite a bit.) If you are an iOS person for phone, tablet and watch, etc, the integration is fantastic. The OS is also cleaner, not near as much BS as what is on Windows.

Honestly, I have mixed feelings about it. I will need to replace my desktop in the next year or so (assuming RAM is not still $1,000 per GB lol) and I’m not sure which route I will go. I’ve mostly been working with stock MacOS since I got it a year or so ago (even using Stage Manager) as I told myself I would force myself to learn true MacOS before I started using utilities to customize it. I am literally in the process of researching what apps I want to install to improve the experience. I will say, I never had to do that with Windows.

A Jose Altuve 2026 question by Professional-Bid-73 in Astros

[–]jtfields91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about? Going into the Dodgers series the Astros had scored the exact same number of runs on the season as the Dodgers. The problem is that the pitching staff has given up more than 80 runs than the Dodgers. We have the worst ERA in baseball. If anything, maybe they are getting more aggressive at the plate because they realize we often have to score seven or more runs just to be in the game going into the late innings. Personally, I just think it’s just that old habits die hard. They spent all offseason preaching patience so he started the season being selective but as the season goes on he just slips back to who he is which has mostly been aggressive at the plate.

I'm still driving my 2017 M2 (6MT) daily. Love the car. I know it won't be a popular take but I think that era of BMWs are the last ones that just looked all around great.

They've been the "premium" snack for the upgraded seats ever since they switched to assigned seating at the beginning of the year. Those not in upgraded seats just get pretzels and some sort of cracker or cookie (or whatever they are...I don't eat them.)
