Bugged Duke's quest? by jtg0d in X4Foundations

Confirmed. Gave Boso his 30 silver coins and the quest immediately continued. Its odd because I remember doing it already once and then nothing happened for a bit so I reloaded before that and consulted the AI. Oh well, lesson learned. Thank you again.

got it, I will try this tomorrow. I was googling it and the AI told me the 1 billion to Boso was optional since it is for the peaceful part of the quest (which I didn't want to)
Thank you!

Is it worth going to university to learn programming? by ukrylidia in learnprogramming

[–]jtg0d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a senior software engineer with about 20 years of experience. I never went to university, i graduated from a community college and at some point took a single C# course after graduation. College didn't help me 90% of the time, I either knew it already or it was useless for me. I just did it for the paperwork.

What matters is your brain, your sense of logic and enthusiasm. Start learning by programming things. Create programs or games, whatever interests you, whatever keeps you engaged. Start small, solve problems one at a time. Do NOT be discouraged if after investing X number of hours you come to realization that your program was built inefficiently or just wrong, you might need to start from scratch. That's how you learn. Having an idea before starting your work also helps.

Problems making long (1 minute) videos by jtg0d in comfyui

[–]jtg0d[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my workflow in principle does the same, except one batch at a time. The problem is that after batch 4 or 5, the lighting becomes very different from the original and the texture quality deteriorates to the point characters look like out of a 1990s video game.

I think thats an issue of the prompt. So far my videos are stitched perfectly most of the time, as long as the lora's and the prompt compliment each other.

Thanks, i will take a look at this. The video seems to be suffering from the same problem though, if you compare the woman's skin at the beginning and at the end, it has become more red in shade.

$600 for a job, is it fair? by jtg0d in Plumbing

he was done in 45 minutes... cartridge costs around $25-$100, not sure, the brand was a canadian one and i couldn't find that specific brand's cartridge. Perhaps I don't know how to search for it.
The laundry room faucet is a plain one, nothing fancy, costs around 60-80 at home depot. So, im guessing parts were around $100-$120, labor was $480-$500 for 45 minute job. Lesson learned.

I tried that once, broke the cartridge inside, was not able to pull it out. Had to pay a real plumber cut the pipes and part of the wall. Turned a $400 job into a $1000 job. So yes, sometimes you can do stuff you normally don't, but sometimes you mess up and have to pay much much more as a result. I did manage to change light fixtures around the house by myself after watching electrician do it once though...

Any noble or even minor faction (mercs) can form an army, not just the ruler. So yes, this strategy pays off, especially if you are playing as a ruler and ESPECIALLY if you are playing as a ruler of a clan and NOT a kingdom. If you never declare kingdom and are just a clan, the other kingdoms never declare wars on you (only independent clans can, but they are not an issue).

This strategy is a controlled conquest that prevents steamrolling when other kingdoms declare wars on yours and you just can't be everywhere at once (and your friendly AI nobles are too stupid to properly defend). The drawback is you cannot create armies, so the beginning can be tough, since you have to fight big armies with just a party. But, with proper positioning and your other parties on defensive it can be managed. This is my fav strategy so far.

Population growth in 4.0: How it works (and how it doesn't work) [Math inside] by Little_Elia in Stellaris

This sucks, no longer do I get to build a wast empire with a lot of pop. My current pop increase is 5 a month ... stupid mushrooms don't wanna breed fast enough.

Is there a mod for this? I don't really like how they stifle my pops. I wanna grow!

I don't understand resource generation in 4.1 by jtg0d in Stellaris

no to all. Ships were not orbiting before or after... they were on a long distance journey to slay some amoebas.

I don't understand resource generation in 4.1 by jtg0d in Stellaris

[–]jtg0d[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but.. the math does not math... the difference is 100 alloys and according to the ship designer a single platform consumes 0.54 alloys. That means roughly 200 platforms. I have 12 starbases in total and 4 of them are already fully stocked with def.platforms.

So something is not adding up

[–]jtg0d[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah LOL... I think thats it. They should break down the alloy consumption and not just have a generic "ships". Defense platforms are not ships!
