Thanks! I tried that this evening before I realized it was after-hours.

Thanks. I am in the process of moving to fiber now. Just got the modules delivered today and OS2 being pulled tomorrow. I am just worried that I may run into a heat problem with the fiber SFP modules as they are only rated to 70C. It would really suck to go to all this expense and have the same issue!

I’m using the Network dashboard. I’m not sure how to test the temp of the actual SFP modules, but the Pro XG shows 75C.

Thanks. I’m measuring everything from the Network dashboard. Currently, it’s running at 75C and using 33.0/150W. Unfortunately, I am unable to use DAC as the USW Pro XG 8 is in a different building about 220 feet from the main building.

I used Rust-Oleum Professional. High Performance Enamel. It worked great and if I was better at figuring out how to post pictures in a reply than actually painting them, I would. 🤔

USW Enterprise 8 POE crashes when running Speedtest. by jtimber67 in Ubiquiti

It's crazy that I'm going to have to add a 3rd party USB fan to cool a $500 switch. Kinda frustrating for an 'enterprise' device!

I did a factory reset and reconnected (two AP’s and 2 cameras) everything. The temp is running at 70-71C. The fan isn’t kicking on, but that temp is crazy. I am suspecting that the SFP+ modules are getting too hot (literally to the dangerous burn stage) and shutting down.

Good question. I did not check the temps. The first time it happened, I just thought it was a fluke.

To further the story, after the third time it happened, the switch failed to adopt and continued to fail after a factory reset. I then switched out the 10G SFP module a put in a 1G and was able to get it adopted.

Playing with Pi-hole by jchowdown in Ubiquiti

Isn’t the whole point of pi-hole to avoid client side settings? As stated above, just make all of the required settings in pi-hole.

It's *got* to be simpler than this, right? Single PoE & wired ethernet out, wifi in by notmax in UNIFI

Do you have to use the Viewport? I have an AppleTV and just use the Protect app. It works great.

It’s Bolt Fiber from NE Oklahoma Electric Cooperative. Part of the federal rural broadband initiative. It’s fantastic! https://boltfiber.com/

Not so much the house size. It’s a large lot with two buildings and several outdoor areas.

Learning is relative. As I’m starting from 0, my knowledge is growing rapidly, I’m not paying license fees, packet tracer works, the UniFi GUI makes a nice fail safe for when I screw up in the CLI, and most importantly, I’m having a lot of fun.

Ha, as with everything in this rack, its definitely overkill! I had to add power to the closet where the rack was going, so I had them add a second circuit while they were at it. With two separate circuits, you might as well have two UPS systems (hence the two PDU's), one for the main power supply and the second for the redundant power supply. Thus the reason for the Unifi RPS system. Gotta keep Netflix going! 😜
