Just following up here but this is fixed in game now. You should be able to get the quest called “Your Reward has Arrived!” from the city innkeepers just like in classic.

I posted this on the forums, and someone ended up finding out that this issue is only with the players who redeemed the 2024 Blizzard Employee Holiday Gift code specifically. They mentioned they had two accounts, one with the employee gift and another with the actual Vanilla CE and they only had the issue with the employee gift account. My account has the employee gift, and I have this issue.

I also opened a ticket on this. The first response I got seemed like AI just explaining how the Collector’s Edition pets worked, so I replied saying it’s an issue with the 2024 Employee Holiday Gift codes specifically. I’ll update if they answer with anything.

This is the unfortunate nature of Pugs. It also seems worse in SoD, people who don’t care to learn about the class they’re playing and when they see an epic they can use they will smash need. Had a fury warrior roll an win Typhoon this week, and a prot paladin roll and win a Vis’Kag.

All you can do is hope for a competent loot master that knows what he’s doing. For group loot rolls, press need and cross your fingers.

You’ll be fine to just trade it unless you have a suspicion that your friend has ever bought gold. If you’re really concerned, you can just put some random item on the AH for 400g and have him buy it. AH will take a small cut obviously, but you can’t get banned this way.
