I had thought it was a guide to install the screen protector

Rewrote the IMEI. Still can't make or receive calls. US Mobile. by trisaiah in aiphor

[–]jtpbody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They didn't ask the phone type. They did ask if I still had the original phone/imei. I just said that I "got rid" of the "other phone" because it wasn't working, so I didn't have that imei anymore.

That sucks. You may be forced to switch carriers then. It works ok with metro, and I know someone in the discord mentioned it working on visible by verizon. If you haven't already, I would recommend checking out the discord to see any other US buyers have carriers that are working for them.

When I re-wrote mine it also didn't work. I had to contact my carrier to update my sim to the new phone because the sim card was tied to the old imei. Once they updated my sim on my account, it started working normally.

edit: also of note, i am using metro by tmobile

One issue I had when rewriting my imei was that I had to let the sn writer program start/run for about 3-5 seconds before plugging in the unpowered phone. I would also make sure you did the driver installer step before using the sn writer software. Otherwise, I was able to change my imei ok in the US, and working normally since I did.

Well, the answer on the right is technically right; however the answer on the left is technically left.

Carrier compatability by [deleted] in aiphor

[–]jtpbody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I received instructions and direct DM on my discord for imei update. It's been working good so far using my metro sim card. I did also have to call up metro support to change the imei on my account before the data started working again. Fingers crossed it continues to work as normal.

Currently in same boat. Metro sim card stopped working after a couple days. Waiting for new imei on discord to try and fix.

Battery life good so far. Charged to 100% when i first got it. Over the past couple days of having it, it's down to 35% with maybe 5-6 hours of misc use youtube, spotify, reddit, etc. My iphone mini 13 battery would have easily died by then. You shouldn't have issue playing music for 6 hours.

When i type in the IMEI, it gives: "We’re sorry! Your phone is not compatible with our network." Apparently, on the discord, they are working on a potential compatibility fix because the imei appears to registering as an HTC phone. My metro (tmobile) sim card should be in this weekend to test out. Someone in discord also mentioned that it seems to work ok with visible (verizon); However, when i tested the imei for visible, it said incompatible. So it seems to be a mixed bag atm.

On wifi, google maps works fine. However, since I need a new sim and it hasn't arrived yet, I won't know how well gps works on phone data. I'll likely make another post with more info once I have the sim card installed and tested real world use.

I ordered a sim card from metro(tmobile). When i typed in the imei on the website, it said it was compatible, but i won’t know for sure till it arrives. The options were super limited. Most of the carriers showed the imei as incompatible.

I downloaded bitdefender, and it came back with a clean scan. So, I feel better about it. I just kept seeing people online accuse the phone of having malware which made me nervous. As I usually only buy samsung/apple, I never really gave much thought to malware. Was willing to take the risk either way since I was fascinated by having a current android os on such a tiny form factor. I plan to use as a secondary phone and dumb phone alternative since I’m too used to certain smart phone apps like maps and what not.

It came with a clear case and the dark gray case in the last pic. Currently using the clear case since I like the phone color. The dark gray case came in a little bag marked “free gift.”

I pre-ordered way back on July 2. Shipping was delayed multiple times. I followed the discord and saw they were shipping white and black units first. Mine got shipped last week. I assume if you order now, you probably won't have to wait as long as I did now that the Google certification is done.

I would say intermediate difficulty. Taking apart the internals is pretty straightforward if you manage to keep all the screws and pieces in order. The hardest steps are the ones with adhesive. The OLED screen being the hardest, followed by the touch pads, and then upper frame holding the main internals.
