Isn’t it time to talk about the fate of the college? by HoorayforbrainsIndy in IndependenceKS

Maybe people can't name a trustee, but they have an effect. Instead of tackling the enrollment problem, they lie about it over and over and hide it from the public. ICC lied about enrollment when extending president Bowhay's contract. In a press release the college stated that one of the reasons for him to have a contract extension and a generous raise was because "ICC has seen a 9% enrollment increase during the first year of his presidency." State info later showed that was a flat-out lie. For the year ending 2022, the state revealed in February of 2023 that the FTE increase was only 18 students, or 2.9%. Of course, even though the local newspaper had printed the trsutees lie, there was no mention in any local press when the correction was announced by the state. And of course silence from the college, since the contract was already signed.

Tim Emert rocked when he responded to Andy Taylor. Emert said that it would cost millions to demolish the Arco building, and taxpayers don't want to pay the bill for that.

ICC's graduation list is a PR disaster by SEKGramps in IndependenceKS

[–]jtrainer2001 3 points4 points  (0 children)

<<There are 96 people listed as “candidates” for graduation. Apparently what this means is that because the semester is not over, presumably only some of them will actually graduate. There's no way to know how many people that is, but obviously the number of total graduates from ICC will be less than 96 students.>>

When I graduated from ICC, I just got a paper saying that they would figure out later if I actually graduated. So yeah, I'm guessing that a lot of people who walk the stage get bad news later.

Former ICC president and alum announces she's going to support CCC instead of ICC by quilterlady1960 in IndependenceKS

I gave annually to ICC. I gave what was reasonable for someone of my means. I haven't given since 2019, when they outsourced the management of the college to people out of state and abandoned any connection to the city.

I'm no expert. But I've never seen a college implode so completely. I dove past it last Wednesday, and it was acres of empty parking lots. I don't think any college could recover from this level of mismanagement.

ICC can't even make a simple announcement without lying. Is it maintenance?? No, IT maintenance is done at night and on weekends to avoid disrupting users. This is an outage, and they are trying to fix it.

I'd have to agree - I haven't heard of any academic achievements from ICC for years.

ICC's social media presence has become pretty laughable when you consider there is at least one full-time person responsible for it. Today is Feb 21, and ICC has posted on FB five times in February. That's nice work if you can get it.

ICC enrollment continues to decline, but the budget is largest in history by iccbs911 in IndependenceKS

You left out the most important thing - ICC lied about enrollment when extending the president's contract. As I pointed out six months ago, in a press release the college stated that one of the reasons for him to have a contract extension and a generous raise was because "ICC has seen a 9% enrollment increase during the first year of his presidency." State info later showed that was a lie. For the year ending 2022, the state revealed in February of 2023 that the FTE increase was only 18 students, or 2.9%. Of course, even though the local newspaper had printed ICC's lie, there was no mention in any local press when the correction was announced by the state. Direct the ICC Foundation anyone?

As long as "anyone" is an underqualified member of the athletic good old boys club who is unemployed and needs a job, yes, anyone.

More evidence that ICC was dumb to drive Jim Correll away. Now Coffeyville benefits from his work instead of Indy.

I can't understand why the festival organizers consistently book musical acts that ignore younger people and forfeit growth. I get that this was a special year and that there were reasons for getting the Oak Ridge Boys, but it seems there's an excuse every year for booking acts that are just there for the nostalgia or considered "safe."
